Composting.. can I put the hoover bag contents in the compost bin ?

Can anyone tell me is it OK to put the contents of the hoover bag into the compost bin for composting??? I've started to compost with avengence, especially since I now shred my newspapers in the shredder every day and add those too. Just wanted to know if I can empty the Dyson into it as well.?
Thanks

Think you can... just reminded me I should too.

Most of what you vacuum is "organic" material, and the rest is probably usefull minerals or too small to do any harm

If you have lots of other waste from veggies and the garden the proportion of man-made fibres is very small, I think most of the hoover stuff is hair and skin...ugh!

Probably not, but they'd make the compost free draining and not clumpy, a bit like adding some sharp sand i'd imagine.
