Janey's Journey to Becoming a MFW

Another successful day. I managed to leave school just before 5pm and didn't bring any work home with me again :j We have a meeting tomorrow so I'll probably end up with a massive list.
I still feel a bit flat but managed to block most thoughts of pregnancy/babies and avoided all conversations.
Today is a NSD again (2/15)
Things that have made me feel happy:
A girl in my class made me a 'best teacher' certificate with the most horrendous spelling and mini pom-poms!
I had to pull over for two shetlands pulling a trap on the way home.
One of the 'three word Tuesdays' on the radio made me lol in the car!
Time for some food I think and then I'll see if I can be bothered to brave the strong winds to walk the dogs.

Happy Friday
We've had quite a spendy few days but all of it essential...except for the church pew that I bought on facebook It is lovely though...
New mattress arrived today and feels very comfy. The rooms of the house that we use are tidy, Mr T order is done, dogs are walked and 3 loads of washing done.
I'm quite excited to pick up my new car tomorrow

Thanks for dropping in SF
The car is a reluctant purchase but I am looking forward to having it! We're leaving in an hour :j Then we need to fill up our savings again. I'm also thinking of building up a £500 buffer in the car column of the spreadsheet in case we end up in this situation again. Even new tyres are a huge expense if you're not expecting it "It is often said that before you die your life passes before your eyes. It is in fact true. It's called living." Morning everyone
It's been a bloomin' busy week here!
New car collected last week and I really love it. It's extremely clean however, and I'm really worried about scratching it. I have ordered floor mats and a really expensive liner to stop the boot getting ruined by dogs and/or DH's guitar equipment.
I'm still ticking along with the October challenge.
I've managed to eat more fruit and veg but not always managing 5 a day.
I've just updated the spreadsheets and things are looking OK...if you ignore the £5800 hole in our emergency savings! Will try to pay back £500 a month starting next month...at the same time as completing a building project and furnishing a house...
This weeks big spends (other than the car) include tickets to a gig in London for our anniversary next year, an electric blanket and mop from L@keland, car boot liner thingy and car floor mats. About £450 in total
In my defence, I didn't buy an amazing 18th century oak coffer that came up on a fb group...I will get one one day...just not this week :rotfl:
Hope it's not too wet where everyone else is - it's pouring here.

It's a bit blustery here. Sometimes brilliant sun and some very heavy showers. I was feeling a bit fed up earlier as I didn't want to walk the dogs on my own again. I texted a couple of friends who didn't reply and my mum and brother who replied saying they'd just been for a walk! Anyway, DH felt sorry for me and came to the beach with me which was lovely. Both dogs had a really good run, the sun came out for a while and it only rained once, then we had a hot chocolate each and shared a scone before coming home. I thought it might help me to write a sort of statement of our finances to give me a bit of focus. I'm a bit freaked out by our current account balance being as low as £2939. This is the lowest it's been for years and includes our emergency savings!
So:
FD regular savers x 2: £6000 increasing by £600 per month
These end at the beginning of January and i'll open two more at the reduced 5% rate and slowly put it all back in. This money is set aside for IVF next year.
In our current account:
Emergency savings: £1200 which is just 17% of our £7000 target  thanks to recent car purchase. I hope to pay at least £500 a month into this.
Car budget: currently -£104 but I have received a refund of £108 back from the DVLA for my road tax. I need to recalculate how much I need to put away each month for the new car. I also want to save a buffer for any repairs by the time it is out of warranty.
I'm thinking of:
Road tax £20
MOT & service £300
Insurance £200
Repairs £500
= £85 per month for the next 12 months then £45 per month the following year unless I need to pay for repairs.
Presents budget: £267
Renovation budget: £440
Holidays: £382 Just booked tickets to a gig for our anniversary next year and need to book accommodation.
Credit card: -£385 remaining from our wood flooring. This will be paid by the end of the month. The 0% rate is ending so need to find another once it's cleared.
Set out like this, it seems we should be able to pay into our regular savers, pay back our emergency fund, put a few £££ per month into the renovation budget and buy a few bits for the house...if we're careful.

Sooo...I watched a video on fb about how you only regret the things that you didn't do, not the things you did. This got me thinking about the thing I really want to do which is travel...so now we are going to Venice for 3 nights between xmas and new year (despite having less savings now than anytime in the last 4 years ).
I fiddled around on flight comparison websites until I found the cheapest combination of destination and dates and came up with Venice. I've read that it will be cold, misty and atmospheric! I have also booked a cheap hotel with good reviews and dogs are booked into posh not-kennels where they stay in the house. Our accommodation is about £185, dogs is going to be £280 :rotfl::rotfl:
Now I just need to sort out airport parking, travel insurance and , oh yeah, change my name on my passport! This is going to be way more expensive than I initially considered but I feel like I've got something to really look forward to now :):o:)
Will update properly when I've got more time,
