When we were kids my parents were quite short of cash. The typical family where dad went out to work and mum stayed at home and brought the kids up (when it was the done thing, mum going to work would have been frowned upon). We lived (still do) in Edinburgh but my grandparents lived in Gloucestershire (grandad's job moved there) so every year during the Edinburgh trade holidays we went for one week somewhere in South West England and the second week we went to grandparents. Brilliant memories. Anyway, my point is we went to Cornwall a couple of times and it was lovely. The weather was always as good as going abroad. We drove Edinburgh to Cornwall (or wherever it was each year) with one carsick child and one non carsick child.

DFW best thing for car sickness is Stugeron. My granny swore by it and it seemed to work for my sister (seriously, I remember having sick all over me on numerous occasions (and in buckets (as in buckets and spades) and on the back of the front passenger seat, etc) before we discovered Stugeron and it wasn't even my own sick! Bleugh!)

Oops, sorry for taking over mummy. Glad you had a good hol and it won't be long before you are out of that horrid workplace! At least you have a date to look forward to :) xx

    Hi Mummy,

I have created a new diary to reflect my new debt free life instead of signing out, as otherwise I will end up going off the rails...link is in my old diary.

We took DD to Cornwall whilst towing a caravan from North East coast when she was 2. Stopped over night about half way down. Not sure I could do it now as she asks if we're there yet every two mins.

    xx

    Afternoon all,

Just a flying visit... snowed under which seems to be story of my life at the moment! Last week feel a million miles away right now.
Loving that we all love Devon and Cornwall haha!!! Would definitely do it in the night next time. M6 is too much of a nightmare.

Cant remember if I mentioned but were going camping in the Yorkshire dales tomorrow for the weekend! Some friends have a huge tent so were all in that! Its not really my cup of tea but DH and the kids will love it! Plus its hardly cost us anything.
Working from home today, kids are playing out and then im off tomorrow. Need to pop to the school in the morning and hand in my other birth certificate for my DBS check. Then go shopping and then we are planning on setting off after lunch. Feel like im totally playing catch up at the mo.
Boss is thinking of all the things she wants/needs from me before I leave so my work load is mounting so apologies if im a bit quiet for a couple of weeks.

    Catch up soon xx

  • Camping sounds fun Mummy! I wish we had a tent! Nice cheap, easy holidays :)

Thanks for the tip ref the sturgeon...will google this, surely you don't mean the fish and it must be something else (can't think of anything else though so google will help i hope lol) DD's sickness is awful she will throw up for hours on end, the last incident had me covered from head to toe (literally) in it and i was nearly sick myself :( ! The dog is also another one for suffering so will have to see if I can find something for him too! I used to get it as a child so i've lots of sympathy but it really is YUK!

I just googled it and it says 5 hours from here, although DH went there with work about a year ago and it took them closer to 7 hours because of the traffic on the m4 & m25. I think driving through the night sounds like the best option :p !

Anyway have fun this weekend Mummy and 'see' you soon x
