  • i requested a balance transfer from another ccard via the online screen,

can someone tell me how long it takes to go through?

is there normally a charge, if so when does it tell you of the charge?
Normally takes 4 days to go through. You shouldn't be charged online - at least I never have.

I have done three MBNA transfers recently, two were charged at £35, the middle one was free.

I was charged for transferring by phone and online.

The free one was not for all of the available balance, I transfered 98% of my limit - £35 over the internet. It may not be a hard and fast rule but if you can avoid human intervention it might be best.
  • I have just received a Virgin card - 0% for 9 mths, 6500 limit. I BT'd to another account - no fee. Then Virgin (MBNA) called and asked me if I wanted to put £350 of my remaining £500 limit in my current account - I said yes please! No fee again. I was told that a fee will only be charged outside the promo period.
