Capital One - Resolve Case (Advice Please)

Hi everyone,

I could use some advice to calm my nerves please!

I started a PPI claim against Capital One on 24/02. I've been paying for PPI that I don't remember asking for since 2010!

I was expecting to have to wait up to 8 weeks for a response but this morning a message on my Resolver account from Capital One stating that they have completed their investigation and sent their final response to me directly.

so here's my thoughts;

1) is such a quick response a good think or a bad thing? or neither?
2) How will they have contacted me (Email...Post? I've not received an email yet)

It'd be great if anyone else who has been through a claim with them could offer some insight.

Thanks in advance

    A quick turnaround could be any number of things

    They might have upheld your complaint without any investigation as a business decision

    They might have rejected your complaint because you didn't actually have PPI

    They might have rejected your complaint because saying you don't remember asking for PPI (8 years ago) is not a valid mis-sale reason.

    The problem with using Resolver is that they are a third party which can get in the way of direct contact with the Bank.
    If you haven't received any final response (but Resolver has, apparently) your only option is to contact the Bank.

    It would appear likely that they've responded formally by letter, though, so probably wise to wait for the post.
  • I've just checked my credit card account and the following is showing;

    01-03-2018 HMRC TAX £26.45 (Debit)
    01-03-2018 PURCHASE ADJUSTMENT £763.49 (Debit)
    01-03-2018 PPI INTEREST REFUND £357.64 (Credit)
    01-03-2018 PPI 8% INTEREST £132.27 (Credit)
    01-03-2018 PPI REFUND £588.21 (Credit)
    01-03-2018 PPI CHARGES £36.00 (Credit)

    I'm now very confused.....

    Why are you "confused"?
    You've obviously been refunded.

    Expect a letter formally upholding your complaint in the post.
  • I'm confused by the the amounts that are Debits. I understand that one will be Tax to HMRC...any ideas about the other?

    It's just the way in which refunds to credit cards are processed. Don't worry, you won't be financially disadvantaged.
  • Thanks for the advice, I've only recently started getting to grips with my finances and there is much that I don't understand yet.

    Thanks again, much appreciated.
  • I received a letter from Capital One saying my complaint was rejected as it was out of timescales (2004-2008) and that I ought to have noticed earlier that there was an issue ?
    I only found out I had it 4 weeks ago !!
    Oh well :(
