Are you on Fibre or ADSL for £18.
Im on UL Firbre but paying £25 for 18 months.
My only get out will be the price of calls increasing.

    On ADSL here.
  • I have got fed up with Sky Broadband/Telephone and decided to leave completely. I was already paying £2.50 extra because I terminated Sky TV a few years ago.

Changing to Zen Broadband now. It is cheaper than Sky for the first year, but admittedly it will be slightly more expensive after that. But Zen is a highly recommended provider based in the north of England so my money will at least be going to a small company in the north and not going on paying footballer's salaries or James Murdoch's private jet.

Sky rang me today to try and discuss it and I just refused. It is this constant haggling nonsense that annoys me about them. If they want to keep my business then don't raise the prices in the first place.

Im also wondering how to play this, I ordered 6th December, £70 TCB is still sitting at pending, now says estimate payable 26 weeks, that would take me to June.
I had the price rise email today, only affected by calls, I understand I only have to give notice to leave within 30 days, I don't believe you then have to leave within the same time.

I also had the £50 prepaid card.
Could we give notice and wait for cashback before actually swapping provider?

Heres an update if anyone interested. Hung on until 23 days and the cashback went to confirmed. That day called sky and instantly agreed I can leave without penalty.

Moved to BT a week later for 29.99 a month, £10 router fee, £150 prepaid card and 99 Topcashback.

Sky £70 topcashabck went payable today, plan worked.

Now back in the cycle waiting for BT price rise, Im an 18 monther now

Rang sky to cancel as we've been waiting to move to Virgin anyway, they're saying that because the increase is less than 10% (£4 increase) of the bill, we cannot cancel.

Is there any truth in this? Can't find anything on the internet.

Absolutely true and the article itself does confirm this (you did read it didn't you :) )

I've read it again, I must be going blind, but I can't see anything about being unable to cancel if the increase is below 10%

It doesn't mention a percentage at all but that's immaterial
If you're within your minimum term for a TV contract though, unfortunately you CAN'T exit it penalty-free as a result of these price changes. You could ask to switch to one of Sky's new TV packages but this is unlikely to save you much as you'll pay £25/mth for the basic Entertainment bundle (or £20/mth if you commit to an 18-month contract).
