The £1,000 emergency fund challenge. 3rd Oct 14 at 10:35 PM
Got the idea for this after listerning to the 'Dave Ramsey Show'.

The idea is to accumulate an emergency fund of £1,000 sitting in a Bank account just in case of emergencies.

You must not leave yourself short in order to reach your goal.

Welcome foxglove. You are member #233.

I tend to use accounts in different banks to keep my EF and 3-6 month funds in.

I will admit to having taken my eye of the ball with regards to my EF, but I am going on holiday for a week and have been saving for that.
Next month will see me start to rebuild the EF.

Meanwhile I have been sorting through my change to see if I have any valuable coins. So far, I have unearthed a valuable £1 coin.

Hi Muser1, you are member #234 and are most welcome to join us.

Must just say that the weather up here in Scotland is much better than it is back home in Essex.

Have been very MSE on our holiday so far. Never realised how much cheaper diesel is up here. Nearly 4p a litre cheaper than in Essex.

Must therefore remember to fill up to the brim before I leave to head home on Saturday.

Holiday cost more than I had budgeted for. £200 txed from EF back to my main account temporarily.

On Wednesday I will begin listing on eBay all the stuff I did not have time to list before I left for my holiday.

    So, jobs for week are-

    1, list two old laptops.
    2, list antique sewing machine.
    3, list homemade teacup candle.
    4, relax.

I admire you selling big/heavy stuff on eBay. I'd worry about the packing and shipping of such as an antique sewing machine, or are you selling it 'collect only'? I can't do that where I live, it's so rural I probably wouldn't get any bidders/buyers willing to come out and fetch it

Checked the online edition of Colchester's Daily Gazette and nearly choked when I read the main headline. It said -
'Park and ride. Couple fined for sex in stairwell of multi storey car park'.

Makes a change from money worries.

EF is back up ro within £45 of where it stood prior to my holiday.

Also, added £19 to my 3-6 month salary fund as well )I know, I should have added it to my EF, but I am trying to build up 1 fund for emergencies and another for just in case I find myself out of work.

    #45 checking in

As thought, I needed to dip into my EF for the bathroom budget & helped my DS out with stuff for his new home after finishing Uni.

Upshot is £600 left in EF.
SO ready for the 1st to go over which will bring it in at £650 aka 65%

Very happy there is over half in there - got to keep on keeping on now to top it back up.
