This is why I have never bothered or paid for packaged bank accounts.
OP....All the banks hate bad press so give the newspapers a go.0 -

No, we don't work for RBS, we are just able to assess the objective facts. You have no case. It is your own fault that you wasted the money and not anyone else's.
If you cared to read my posts carefully, you would see that I actually said that, generally, I considered packaged bank accounts to be a massive waste of money for most people.
You chose the account and you chose to continue paying for it for 17 years. Nobody made you do so.0 -

Was waiting for that! :rotfl:Packaged bank accounts are a rip off!
They certainly are poor value if you don't use any of the benefits. But in this case it seems that you knew you couldn't use (m)any of the benefits, but still chose to keep paying it for some reason.0 -
Rather than arguing here, your only form of redress is a court claim.
You win or you may lose.0 -
Just try the press.
RBS will hate any bad publicity.0 -
Thanks both of you, i was paying for a bank account that RBS advised me to take, the one and only time I tried to make a claim for a phone that I dropped prompted me to question why i bothered paying as the claim for replacing the phone was rejected, at this point and this point only I made a claim to RBS as the policies are simply a con. So the long and short of it is tuff, its my fault that I got tucked up by RBS?
If that is how you want to view it, yes.
Had you ordered a weekly delivery of cake from the local bakers, and never eaten it, would you demand a refund? Even if they had talked you into it, you presumably would just feel a bit silly, and move on. Why do you think it different with financial services?
For some reason people seem to be confusing banks with a charity, the government, or their parents. They are not there to hold your hand, or get the best for you, any more than is your local Indian takeaway, show shop, or car dealership. If they talk you into buying something expensive that is not ground for a refund.0 -
