    It is a general observation as per title and I have already explained the lack of logic in the process several times.

    As someone who struggled to find a job for a while, I find the Civil Service process incredibly efficient.

    After a few attempts I managed to write competencies that scored highly and now I can complete an application in five minutes by just copying and pasting the things I've already written and I'm generally guaranteed an interview unless it's more of a specialist role because I know what I've written is sound.

    This is compared to private sector jobs, all of which have wildly varying application processes. You're lucky if you are just asked for a CV these days. Most of the time it's upload your CV to our buggy online system, fill in the details manually anyway because they didn't register, tailor your experience to that particular job. It takes me hours to complete each application because one CV doesn't fit all, then private companies generally have no set way of replying to applicants. Occasionally you get a rejection email, but you're lucky if you do, and any feedback is at the hiring manager's discretion and tends to be rushed during their morning coffee.

    At least with Civil Service recruitment, you get a feedback score immediately and have a general idea of how good your application is. Once you've cracked it I really think it's more efficient than private sector hiring, but I do admit that there are probably issues within the CS hiring system that need addressing. I applied for hundreds of jobs and I don't think I could have kept writing new applications each time, making cover letters and constantly tweaking my CV until it doesn't resemble what I started with.

    Their process is long winded and ultimately will lead to the CS losing talent.

    Good candidates don't stay on the market very long.

    Having seen a shop worker go to HR Business Partner just sums it up.
