Stainless steel pressure cooker 6lt in Aldi from 26 August for £19.99 if anyone is still looking for one  ;)

From the details on Aldi website it looks like it’s the same Spanish manufacturer behind the Fagor brand of pressure cooker and the Tower Rapide 6L pressure cooker that I bought in Argos last year. At half the price and with an additional steam basket, it's a great deal.

If anybody has this or a similar model (Lidl had a 'splendid' model on sale in May in NI) I'd be interested in what their manual says about where to get replacement gaskets (rubber seal). The Tower model has a Fagor logo on the gasket so they should be compatible. Last time I checked with Tower it was just under £5.00 (postage included). A bit steep for a specialised bit of rubber/silicone it seems.

Just one bit of detail I wasn't quite so aware of before getting mine is that a pressure cooker can't be left unattended while over the heat source.

For this reason I'm thinking of getting an electric rice cooker for some true multi-tasking. Has Lidl ever sold a rice cooker?

While I use the pressure cooker daily for brown rice, I agree with previous comments, potatoes cooked in one are quick and so tasty with no seasoning needed at all. And the cheaper meats like chicken thighs and legs become real taste contenders.

    Thanks for any tips,

    Michael
