    Hi TryHarder - yes I forgot to say I had used TCB - I was so excited about the 40% bargains I left it out of the post. Just back from HB which has only recently opened where I live. Picked up some more stocking filla type purchases at great prices too. Can't believe I have gone all Christmassy today. However, looking out of the window at the pouring rain and wind it could well be winter :rotfl:

    It seems to be another very long month. Still another 5 days until payday :eek: However, did have a very successful shopping day. Two pairs of jeans purchased with a gift voucher. That's my kind of shopping - where no money is involved :rotfl: I was well under budget food shopping this week which will mean I should come in on budget overall this month. DHs accounts with the accountant atm. Hopefully should hear back very soon whether he can release a chunky sum of money as an OP which is quite exciting. Have had a real lack of energy today, but did manage to stir myself to tackle my ironing. It has shrunk from a giant mountain to a small hill, but is still giving me evils from under the stairs. I will conquer it one day soon :rotfl:

    I hope you had some good news from the accountant!

    Oh dear, seem to have been MIA for a while - "stuff" got in the way, but am now hopefully back with a vengeance. Just made a £250 OP which was the balance left on my travel card having just got back from holiday :T This gives a new mortgage o/s balance of £42,418.93 edging nicely towards to the 30s with a daily interest on £2.93 - finally dipped just under the £3/day :j Future is a little uncertain as big changes rumoured at work and contract very uncertain for September with no guarantee of hours. DH has also just had major health scare on return from hols and is having to "re-evaluate" work/life balance. Not sure what will happen yet but the whole episode has made me more determined to achieve that FIRE target. Although after checking the dismal state of my work pension balance I may be FIREing at about 90 :rotfl: Onwards and upwards -will try very hard to report in a little more frequently to keep the mojo firing on all cylinders :D

    Have finally opened a Mr T current account to take advantage of the 3% interest rate. Will be using it just as a savings account and have transferred about £1100 that I had lingering in an old Halifax account payment dismal interest. At the moment this is just being kept as EF money, but I may have a rash moment and just OP it. Will see how the mood takes me :rotfl: Felt a bit meh today, don't know why. Had loads of jobs to do and couldn't quite summons the energy to do any of them and then felt cross because I hadn't done any of them!! Decided to give up and have a little snooze instead - felt better after that. Onwards and upwards (or preferably downwards as we are MFWers)

    Disaster struck earlier today as the strap broke on my favourite handbag. After recovering from the embarrassment of having the entire contents of my bag,including it seems the kitchen sink, roll across the shop floor, inspiration struck and I whizzed to the shoe repairer who managed to stitch it all better for £4 :T Not that long ago I would have binned the bag and bought a new one for £30-40:eek: Funny how quickly things change when you are a MFW :rotfl:

    Not much to report today. Came in under budget for the weekly shop so that's always a bonus and leaves a little wiggle room for the school holidays where the DSs eat me out of house and home. Managed to somehow forget to buy washing up liquid and raisins both of which were on the list! I am a hopeless case at times :rotfl: First monthly payment made in to my new Te*co current account, so at least I know everything is working well :T Listed 7 things on local FB selling site after a major clear out in the loft. The loft is now very well organised and much clearer, but the landing looks as though aliens have landed :rotfl: Will get there at some point.

    Following DH's recent health scare and stay in hospital there is a lot of uncertainly surrounding his future work. We decided to have a good look at the house and view it as prospective buyers. We will then invest a little money (ouch) doing some necessary decoration/repairs, so that if the decision is made that we need to sell up in order to fund a different lifestyle in future, at least we will be prepared :T At the moment list is as follows;
    • Sort out and declutter loft (almost done - just need to sort out and declutter landing now :rotfl:)
    • Touch up paint in lounge where builder touched up settlement crack with the wrong coloured paint (!)
    • Decorate our ensuite which has been attacked by mould (again !)
    • Touch up bedroom window for same reason as ensuite
    • Replace kitchen cupboard door knobs which for some reason all keep randomly fall off :rotfl:
    • Replace kitchen cupboard plinths (for same reason as door knobs)
    • Sort out front drive block paving which is looking very sorry for itself (we are obtaining a quote from some specialists for this - am worried it will be very :eek:)
    • Replace bath panel in main bathroom (may be tricky as quite old and not sure if replacement exists - hopefully won't result in new bath :eek:)

    List seems even bigger written down, turning into a GallyGirl epic list :rotfl: It also reads as though we live in a slum !! However, it is certainly a good way to keep focused. Off to hit the internet to find some deals and bargains like the good MSE I am. Happy weekend everyone.
