Hi
I want to buy my daughter a laptop for her school work. I have lost touch with computers over the years but have budgeted for something between £300 and 400. This seems to get me an i3 with 4gb of ram and 1tb. The hard drive size isn’t an issue as we have cloud storage.
Could you let me know if I am on the right track with something like this please? http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/computing/laptops/laptops/lenovo-ideapad-320s-14ikb-14-laptop-grey-10164438-pdt.html
There is also this one which has a different cpu http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/computing/laptops/laptops/hp-pavilion-14-bk069sa-14-laptop-white-rose-gold-10165039-pdt.html
Ideally it will last for he 5 or so years at school, do you think that is possible with the specification? She will be using it for office application and sims4 (she says she wants to play that )
Thank you
Matt

Lenovo perhaps. HP, no.
SSD good.
Resolution 1366 x 768 not so good.
£400 for a just ok laptop, not so good.0 -
Thanks wayt
Are you thinking something like this might be better ? Got a good heat on hot deals
http://www.argos.co.uk/product/6552624
And I might be able to get 5% topcashback on it too0 -
This http://mcscom.co.uk/product/dell-inspiron-15-5567-i5-7200u-2-50ghz-8gb-1tb-15-6-fhd-w10h-1yrs-rtb-wty-mln479/ for £354 would be ok if it had a Solid State Drive fitted.0

It ticks all of the boxes, but you are paying for it.0 -

The first Lenovo would be my preference over Acer (if buying new).
Definitely get an SSD - more important than the screen (in my view). You could get a similar spec HP for £315 but, I would again prefer Lenovo over HP. (And the Lenov's a nice colour !?)If you put your general location in your Profile, somebody here may be able to come and help you.0 -

Not convinced by that statement. This ACER has an aluminium body. Not the usual cheap plastic.
Added to that the Lenovo has 4 GB of RAM to the ACER 8 GB, HDD to the ACER's SSD and HD screen as compared to the ACER's Full HD IPS screen. There is really no comparison.0 -
