Just like to wish everyone on this thread a very Happy Christmas and hope you enjoy it, whatever you are doing. Hubby and me are having a quiet Christmas... just the 2 of us, doing what we want when we want. I might not even get dressed!!! Got a turkey crown defrosted so that needs to be cooked, will do that tonight as we're going to my daughter's for a family get together in a couple of hours to give the grandchildren their presents

Hubby has even said that if there's not much on TV he wants to watch, he'll start stripping the woodchip wallpaper off the hall, stairs and landing! I told him not to go too mad - that can wait until Boxing Day!!!

Finally managed to wrap the rest of the presents: I decided yesterday to make a Christmas sack for my grandson, with his name cross stitched on it. I'm not known as "Queen of the Last Minute" for nothing!!!

I finished it last night, so then thought I'd better make a bag for granddaughter as well. Hers doesn't have her name on though. Did that this morning, then made another morsbag for a Christmas pressie for sis in law. So, nothing much got done here today except that! So what... there's only the 2 of us. It's only us who have to sit and look at any mess we make, so we're going to have a nice, peaceful, stress-free Christmas Day. Hope everyone has the Christmas they'd like too... xxxx

Merry Christmas

We've just watched arthur christmas with the kids in their new PJs, except DS (2) fell asleep 10 mins in bless him. Going to move him to his bed in a mo. Once they are asleep it will be time to declutter my room of Xmas presents! (Still got DS' bday presents to hide until 27th).

Hope everyone has a lovely day tomorrow!! xx

It's been a few weeks since I first posted on here but seemed to have made little headway. It has hit me today the amount of clutter and rubbish there is to sort. The trouble is I tend to throw myself In head first then get disheartened. So the new plan one little area each day and if I do more well that's all the better.

Tomorrow all wrapping paper and boxes will be bagged up and thrown out. New stuff will be put away.

Merry Christmas everyone.

Hi everyone

I watched that programme last Friday mineallmine, it was an eye opener... all those tins of food...!

Hope everyone had a good Christmas. Ours was very quiet and slow and lazy and boring... just how we wanted it. No decluttering done either Christmas Day or yesterday; found a couple of bits today that I don't want any longer so they will go to charity shop next time I go.

Not really feeling up to anything at the moment, feeling very 'down'. Have had a 'tight' neck and ringing in my ears for a few weeks, doc says it's tension due to stress. I can't relax so can't get rid... Also had news yesterday that my lovely aunty in America had died yesterday morning, so that has upset me even more. Was thinking of decluttering some savings and flying over, but it would mean going Saturday as the funeral is Tuesday. It's a long trip, 2 flights and a hotel stay in between, so I don't think I'll be able to go, which upsets me even more.

Anyway enough of my woes. I'm hoping to get started on the decluttering again at the weekend and let some of the things I've been holding onto go.

Is this thread going to continue into 2013 or will there be a new one, does anyone know? I'm happy with either, I've still got loads to go through and dispose of.

125, 126 Two necklaces that I won't wear any more - charity shop
127 Loads of papers that I've been shifting from place to place for over a week - not mine, all hubby's - finally shredded and/or put away!!!

Happy decluttering!

Aww loopychriss, sorry to hear of your loss. Big hug coming your way.

Not done much myself other than declutter some writing, I have found a few websites which are helpful regarding getting organised. One of the ideas was to have everything in a ring binder, so have been organising that which means I can declutteer the huge books - already emptied one and can't think why I had the poop in it that I did!

Counting down now to the new year and new start (again!!), anyone know if we are carrying on here? Happy to do whatever is decided.

Happy new year all, keep going!

I'm definitely carrying on the Grand Declutter - got 175 CDs and DVDs to go to musicmagpie. I just need a large enough box now.

Good Morning everybody

I've got some catching up to do on this thread ..................

So sorry to hear about your Aunt in the US, loopychriss - so difficult when problems come up concerning 'distance-loved ones' - I'm sure she'd understand your predicament ........... but it might be worthwhile checking out some Last-Minute Stand-By Fares.

If you can't make it, maybe you can spend an hour or so (at the time of her funeral) re-reading some of her letters / looking at her photographs / remembering happy times. Do you have a particularly good photo of her that you can buy a frame for and stand a vase of flowers / flowering Christmas Rose next to?

Well done everone on your decluttering efforts in the past 12 months - I've only been at it a couple of months, but it's very obvious to me that I need to continue doing this well after 'the move' is over and done with. I've got rid of so much $*ite up to now, but there is still lots more stuff - now boxed - that must be pared down to a liveable amount of 'stuff'. My hoarding must come to an end, once and for all!

I've got my rented van booked for Saturday - that's tomorrow morning!!!!! Think I'd better go and pack some more boxes - see you later - Lilyplonk xxx

Sorry for your loss, Loopychriss. It's very hard to deal with being so far away and unable to say goodbye or offer support to others in person.

My decluttering has been put on hold as I'm on holidays, but need to get back to it soon. I have several unopened Christmas gifts that are going straight out the door as soon as I get the chance. In previous years I would have opened them, used them once, and stuck them in a cupboard, but no more! That was the old me, not the decluttered me.

I'm looking forward to joining the new thread. Life ultimately got in the way with this year's efforts, but I can still see the fruits of my labour with all I achieved in the summer.

Today I have got shot of some digital clutter. deleted a load of emails, and updated mailing preferences to stem the tide of advertising emails tempting me to buy things I didn't know I needed.

Hi everyone

New thread started, it's called Decluttering 2013, the saga continues.

Hope someone can link this one to it.

Hope to be more involved this year, and make a dent in my clutter mountain

Hi December declutterers,

Just a note to say "thanks" for including me this month as well as for your posts. Since my last post, not been as motivated, so will summarise a few last examples of decluttering.

1) My decluttering became more routine household tasks perhaps as a result of money saving tasks that tend to create a mess.

2) Other examples are simply reusing stored items before disposal of them but I tend to carry on collecting the same.

3) All collected garden seeds filed away.

4) Recycled or reused some Xmas packaging e.g. lined a shelf and a windowsill.

5) Used up two containers of bits of motor oil.

6) Dried felt tip and biro thrown away.

Good luck if you are continuing "the saga" in 2013.

Hi fellow declutterers.I've not been around for quite a while as busy with lots of other things and Christmas of course.I hope that you all had a relaxing and enjoyable Christmas.

I had a list of all that I'd decluttered-achieved during the massive tidy up session before my family came over for a few days at Christmas.I've lost the bit of paper, but I think that I reached my modest target of 25.I've also recycled a huge amount of paper packaging-I've gone through all my herbal teas and put them in a few storage tins so lots more space in the kitchen cupboards.

Looking back,I feel happy with what I've achieved on the decluttering front this year.I think that I'd like to carry on decluttering next year and will have a think about my target.

Wishing you all a very Happy New Year!
