Lesley - we're there the 10th to 18th, though have a wedding vow renewal with a load of friends from all over for the first half of the trip, but maybe we can arrange something with you guys, too.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?
  • Going to vegas 3rd December until 6th. Staying at Vdara for 3 nights. Already got the Grand canyon south rim booked. Also I've booked the high roller on travel zoo courtesy of a link from here. Been looking at other tips like free access to the top of the Stratosphere and deals on buffets etc.

Anyone got any tips and tips on anything vegas related really, as it's my first time in Vegas. Thanks

We fly with Thomas Cook every time now, they are ok with hand luggage but are very strict on hold luggage coming home....they charge for every kilo over, hence the fact that I pay for an extra case coming back just incase. When we were at the airport coming home in June it seemed everyone I front of us was paying for being over. The meals are crap,I always take something to eat from home and they charge you for alcohol, headphones, films and basically anything that they can....We go in 9 days,so we are there again for Halloween,my favourite time in Vegas!

They were ok with us in June on the way home. We were slightly over the limit (think one case was 23.6kg and the other was around 23.4 kg), but because we had hardly anything in regards to hand luggage, they let us off without charging us anything.
The meals are rubbish, I agree with you there, and the last time we flew - I think it was around 2008 - the drinks & telly/headphones were free. This time it was like if they could have charged for using the bog, they would have. We weren't prepared for the extra charges flying to Vegas, and it seemed like they were forever trying to flog the duty free stuff instead of providing drinks, etc.
Personally, I think if they charge all that to fly all that distance, then you should get everything thrown it. It did seem to be a complete rip off. Btw, don't buy the tea, it's awful, have the hot chocolate instead. ;) .
BEST EVER WINS WON IN ORDER (so far) = Sony Camcorder, 32" lcd telly, micro ipod hifi, Ipod Nano, Playstation 3, Andrex Jackpup, Holiday to USA, nintendo wii, Liverpool vs Everton tickets, £250 Reward Your thirst, £500 Pepsi, p&o rotterdam trip, perfume hamper, Dr Who stamp set, steam cleaner.

Sounds good, maybe try make it the same day as Pebbles? We're in Vegas with friends, though there will be times we all go and do our own thing I'm sure.

does anyone happen to know - the promotion at Ellis Island for new players, the spin to win freeplay...is the freeplay available that day, or do you have to come back for it? We have a group who will be at EI one night, and I was going to suggest it - but it won't work if it's a 'come back another time to get it' thing.

    hey guys
asking on behalf of a pal....
He was lucky to win $1500 from 1 spin on a 50c Gambler in Stratosphere (lucky or what!!!)

The Casino took the 'tax' money off him and gave him a form to complete to get the tax back...
He completed the form when he got home yesterday......
Is it possible to make a claim now that he is home ?

From what others have said, and from the reply to the first time poster on the previous page (same person?), they would have been better doing it all whilst they were in the states at the casino in question :)

I can't help other than that, but it was worth stating again in case anyone else on here ever gets a good win :)

I'm sure I've read on trip advisor before of people completing forms when home. I think it can take a while to get the tax exempt number from the irs anyway and some people have left the money there until their next trip.

If not its a great excuse to go back :D
