insurers engineers report is wrong

Options
Hi peeps,

would love some advice please, my car was involed in accident
third party have admitted liability, & sent out a engineer.
I have received the report which is totally wrong,
I have a Toyota Altezza AS200 Jap import, which is a rare car in the UK.
The engineers report has put my car down as UK spec Lexus IS200 & a total loss at £850.
The only car I can find which is close to mine Altezza wise, is already a cat D write off at £1999.
Any ideas on where i stand please

You say the third party sent out the engineer or do you mean their insurer?

Ultimately you need to advise them the report has the vehicle model incorrect and thus everything flowing down from that is inevitably wrong. If you do it by letter and enclose a photocopy of the V5 showing the model etc would substantiate it

If you are renting a car in the mean time or incurring any other costs don't forget to point that out. They tend to be a bit more responsive if the meter is running and they are paying.

I think it is depend on contract between you and insurance company.

Does your vehicle differ in spec much to the UK equivalent IS200?

I know there were some Altezza models from the JDM which have turbos etc, but otherwise aren't most of them the same except the badge?

Certainly there's no real difference in value, in my experience, between say a LS400 and a Toyota Celsior which is the JDM equivalent.
