Called a handyman and they said £30 for first hour or to fit it. Is this reasonable?

£30 for first hour is pretty cheap for a tradesman, even a handyman.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0

£30 is very reasonable if you really have to pay someone to do it - but changing a toilet seat shouldn't be beyond anyone who can tell one end of a screwdriver from the other!0

In most cases you don't even need tools as it is normally finger nuts0

Having spent a couple of hours yesterday with my head staring down the bowl fitting is the easy bit - removing the old, !!!! soaked bolts without cracking the porcelain was a job I'd have happily paid someone to do lol0 -

I used a cutting disc to cut through the rusted bolts on one I changed recently.
Apart from that, a very simple job (and I'm not good at DIY)0 -
3-in-1 oil or WD40 soaking for several hours, then pliers to twist the nuts underneathA kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0

At first I thought you were talking about replacing the whole cistern etc...
I wouldn't pay anyone to change my toilet seats, it's pretty easy to DIY and if you have kept your toilet clean, shouldn't be too "euwwy" job either
Check out youtube, plenty of helpful videos there on how to change them..0
