It's not illegal to carry a defective spare.
Which is what I thought, but it seems some say otherwise?

It is not illegal but it will cause an MOT failure, not having a spare wont.

I cant believe I have been debating this topic for 3 years and still some people cant get the message that the spare wheel IS NOT PART OF AN MOT TEST. Click HERE or HERE and scroll down to wheels and tyres. :wall:

Before soemone says is it me with the bald tyres, its not, i check my tyres regulary as i want to be safe, its someone i know who has bald tyres, if the driver has had his licence for under a year is the penalty worse as opposed to someone who has had a licence for 3 years

If they occur 6 points then they revert back to provisional licence and would need to re-take their test.

It is not an MOT item either, it will not cause an MOT fail, only an advisory.

you will be fined and you will get points for carrying a bald spare tyre, but you wont get points or a fine if you dont have a spare tyre.
i know it sounds crazy but this is the truth,i think its because potentially you could drive with the bald spare.
it is not a myth about getting 3 points for each tyre it is possible and they will all show as individual offences.

No you won't. This whole post it complete rubbish.
