    i am just getting fed up with all the messing around.Part of me is thinking,just do nothing and take any cheque i get .
    I know what you mean about the messing about! If you just sell your rights then you should see a cheque for £470 or so, and you'd still have 30 'new' shares left, but they'll probably only be worth about £70 or so afterwards.

    If you 'do nothing' that £470 value of your rights right may change - either up or down, it depends on 'the market'. So it could be a gamble.

    Your shares are currently worth about £600. If you sell up now (before 20th July) you should get that sort of figure.

    Anyway, we'll know soon, there's bound to be a big wodge of paper in the post in the next few weeks.

    Seems holding Resolution shares is a bit like hard work for us small shareholders, and there's likely to be more rights issues (messing about ;) ) in the future because they still want to make more acquisitions.

    quick question for sabretooth - i may sound a bit stupid but is there a min period you need to hold a share before qualifying for a dividend?

    i.e. if you have a hunch that dividends are due for a particular company, could you buy their shares just before the announcement (assuming the price is worthy to purchase)?

    I'd assume not but you never know....

    Hi, sadly one of my relatives has died and I found out that he had some Bradford and Bingley shares - I think Bradford and Bingley were bought by Santander? What would happen with these now?

    The company always announces dividends well in advance, and they give the date by which you need to be on the share register in order to qualify for the dividend.

    But there's no easy money to be made (or we'd all be doing it!). After the qualifying date, the share price normally drops by about the same amount as the dividend (that's when you see the share price marked 'ex-dividend' or 'xd').

    No, B&B was nationalised, though some parts of the business were then passed to Santander.

    The 'independent valuer' (the title is presumably some kind of joke) has just reported, and has assessed the shares still held by investors as worth: precisely nothing.

    After having registered with an online share dealing website to open a stocks and shares ISA, and having received a confirmation email from them, when trying to log into the website, it keeps saying 'Invalid access to website'.

    Sent a question to the enquiries email of the website to obtain clarification but no answer so far...

    Since no money has been invested there, is it lawful to apply for opening a Shares ISA with another provider without waiting a new tax year?
