  • OK so another rubbish night's sleep, most probably due to the possible onset of a cold (I'm beginning to sneeze etc.) and probably due to the hospital appointment tomorrow re the broken ankle. 9 weeks non-weight bearing now & I'm desperate to get moving... could really do with a good x-ray, having the pot off & being allowed to start walking again :undecided we'll just have to wait & see.

Getting myself up-to-date with the big push for the final two weeks of the academic year (even though I'm signed off & not technically at work), we're a small team & I can't let them down by not doing anything :) think everything's under control so far...

So yesterday was another NSD :) and I'm still tinkering with the allocation of my July pay, which will get paid into my account on Thursday.

    Onwards! :p

  • Woohooo! The best news today is that my cast is off & I can start partially weight-bearing :j 4 weeks on crutches gradually building up strength, but I'm so excited!

I've been investigating the possibility of hiring an automatic car for the next few weeks to get me about (mine is manual so I can't drive that) but with quotes of around £120+ per week and with petrol to add, I'll never afford it :( Hmm need to make an alternative plan I think....

Another NSD day today, lost count now, but the more I do the better!

DH is on about booking somewhere to go at Oct half term so I need to get investigating on the most cost-effect way of a week's holiday. We have a dog, so a little limited, but I'll see what I can find.

Right, I'm off to practice walking....

Ooh I forgot - just one ebay sale today for £1.78, need to get this packaged up & sent asap - it all helps

  • Just realised I haven't posted for 3 days! Too busy 'walking' around & enjoying the freedom. The ridiculous ankle feels surprisingly good... (touching wood)

I've been tinkering with YNAB which I love, just wish I had more money in my salary to put aside/put towards debt - EVERYTHING is accounted for, just have £0.50 left in my budget for July

I really brings home how much I have supplemented my spending with CCs in the past - those purchases here & there have added up & landed me in this hole. Still, I'm working hard to save each & every penny now, while making sure my monthly financial commitments are covered.

  • Happy July everyone :j
I've had a mad couple of days at work trying to finish students off before they leave, so I yet again have a huge marking pile to kick on with... tomorrow...

Most of my DD payments go out at the beginning of the month so I've been updating my YNAB records. Managed to confuse myself with what is going where, but it may make more sense when I look again tomorrow.

I had a slip up again today - went to M&S to buy some lovely bread & proper ham with coleslaw for lunch :( it is soo yummy but it was £10.15 I don't really have spare. If there is an up-side, at least I paid with the cash in my purse... now I have virtually nothing left spare for the rest of the month  I'm such a fool, when will I learn?

I have had to book a physio appointment privately to get my ankle seen & to get some advice. I finally managed to get through to the hospital physio dept but they can't offer me anything until 16th July, and I really don't want to leave it until then. If I want max results & the best recovery, I need to get moving now! It's an extra £44 for a 45min assessment & treatment tomorrow, with probably follow-ups, but I feel that if I don't sort things now, I'll be stuck with a rubbish ankle forever.

Best get some more items onto ebay then to pay for it :rotfl: there's nothing left in my budget after tomorrows costs!

  • Soo another few days have passed since my last update.

All ok, I think! Virtually all of my DD have been paid, and any outstanding are covered in YNAB :j
Just knowing that everything is covered & planned for in July is amazing - it reduces the stress levels loads.

I have a couple of things I need to find some pennies for:

    (a) A staff get-together to celebrate end of the academic year next Friday. I think this will be approx. £30
    (b) My next physio appointment for the ankle next Thursday, which will be £39

If I add those together, that's quite a lot isn't it? Neither have been budgeted for in YNAB yet... I have approx. £45 left in my current account, which will pay for one or t'other...

Best get ebaying & shuffling some pennies, I think!

I've thought of a couple of other things I need to pay for...

    (c) I'm taking a colleague out for lunch on Wednesday, to say thank you for covering me while I've been off, and a belated birthday present, estimate £40 if we go to a pub

    (d) DH has just walked in with a bloomin parking ticket on the truck  we have to park on the road opposite as we live in a terrace, and clearly have left the truck there too long - £25 if I pay within 14 days

I've just been to the shop to buy some fresh bits to make nice sandwiches for lunch (1x pepper, YS lettuce, YS spring onions, mayo, 1 can tuna, multipack of crisps, cobs) which came to £7.71  I find it really hard to organise myself to take lunch to work, and end up buying sandwiches etc. at the last minute. But then it feels really expensive to go out & buy the ingredients - the sandwich 'mix' that I've just made is lovely & tasty, and it should last DH & me a couple of days, but it just feels wrong. I guess I've just got to organise myself better & spend the money on ingredients which are going to be good for me & not just go for the convenient option.

YNAB update - currently have approx. £12.50 available to spend which is not enough considering my financial commitments above. Need to do some creative thinking...! :rotfl:

    (a) Staff Friday party = £30
    (b) Physio Thursday = £39
    (c) Lunch Wednesday = £40
    (d) Parking Ticket = £25

Need to find = £134

  • Hi Doris17, thanks for dropping by!

I've just listed a (horse) rug on ebay & posted on FB too, hoping to achieve £50 but we'll see! It's a 7 day listing, so will be a bit late, but it all helps!

I've also agreed the sale of 3x (horse) rug liners to a good friend for £45, which we should sort out this week. It's probably less than they're worth, but I'm not into taking the p***

I have another rug in the spare room which I'm about to list on ebay & so hopefully a bit more cash there too - it's brand new so finger's crossed.

Tomorrow, I'm going to send a copy of an old CC statement to Lloyds as they've asked for more info re a PPI claim, as they're saying they can't find any records of me. I did state that it was held in my maiden name, but I'm wondering if they didn't actually read the letter...

Erm, what else can I do to generate some pennies, so that I don't have to use the CCs...?

    I'll keep thinking
