Transferring deposit to solicitor

Today is the day I empty my bank account

I've realised that there is no account number on my completion statement, just a reference number.

My solicitor has told me to take this into the bank and they'll know what to do. Is this standard?

I wouldn't be sending anything based on that information. Tell the solicitor the same, and insist on the details from them.

It's not clear what information you have, but as a minimum you'll need the sort code and account number for your solicitors' client account. I suggest you phone your solicitors to clarify before having a wasted trip to the bank.

Thank you, I've just phoned and got the sort code and account number.

It was a communication issue, my solicitor thought I'd received everything I needed in the post with the completion statement.

Did they email you the SC & account number or did you get it over the phone?

Some solicitors won't give the details over email, mine won't you may need to pop into the solicitors if you can.

It depends on the solicitor, mine communicated mostly by email, including for this part of the purchase.

You need the information in writing from them.
