Bullying at work- disclosure of personal information

Hi,

I was injured at work 2 months ago and the manager refused to adjust my duties or conduct a workplace risk assessment. I was forced to take the matter to HR, where the proper procedures were put into place.

Ever since then, I have been subjected to bullying and intimidation, basically trying to force me out. For example, rumours being spread, 'randomly' selected for surprise drugs tests on every occasion, being passed over for further training, being assigned to the most dirty duties in the factory, etc.

The final straw, however, is that I attended a doctor's appointment on Friday and the GP recommended that I be signed off 2 weeks due to stress. I informed my manager and by the end of the day the entire factory had been informed of all the details of my sick note.

Furthermore, because I was absent, my manager gave one of my colleagues a letter for me regarding an Occupational Health appointment and divulged all the information that was in it.

How do I proceed from here? I'm at the end of my tether.

Thanks

    Hi

There is a usefull booklet produced by ACAS that will give you some guidance about what to do in the situation. Please follow the link below to get at it.

If you feel up to it we would suggest that you visit your local CAB and ask to see an employment specialist taking your contract of employment with you. They should be able to talk over the issues with you and hopefully suggest a practical way forward (which may involve raising a further grievance about the way you have been treated). They may be able to help and support you with this process.

Hi, please dont mind me jumping in but i feel im being bullied at work.

Basically ive had a new manager start in the last couple of months and has picked up on im not very fast no matter how i try and is really putting pressure on me to work faster ( i work in a supermarket). plus is taking provisional pip on me plus is putting a lot of pressure on me to be more flexible with my hours than i am happy or comfortable with.
Im an anxouse easily stressed person, have not long ago seemed to have moved on from depression but am still on antidepressants and as a consiquence its been quite a setback for me and seem to be going down the slope of depression again.
the two managers know that i have these issues that have been dealing with the situation have carried on and have said to me things like 'off the record your bieng petty for wanting to change the hours'. Plus other things along this line and have to deal with rather clicky colleagues who either wont talk to me and are pretty off with me.
ive spoken to the union and unfortunatly they can only advise me to chase up the manager and explain to him about the depression.

Hi, please dont mind me jumping in but i feel im being bullied at work.

I think you would be better starting a new thread rather than jumping in on someone else's problem. They may indeed "mind".

Have you read the information on bullying and harassment on the acas website? Are you sure you are being bullied? Or just being asked to do your job? What does your employer say in its staff handbook about bullying? If you belong to a union I would listen to the advice you are getting. But if you want some advice you need to explain more about the problem. As you describe it above a new manager is asking you to do your job (ie as per your contract?) and you are having difficulties doing this? You say they want you to be more flexible with your hours but then you say they are complaining that you want to change your hours. Clolleagues being clicky is niot bullying. Who is bullying you? And how?

I suggest you start another thread and try and explain more clearly what the problem is.
Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.

Raise the issue with your local steward, explain you require their support and assistance in reaching a resolution. If they are unable to help, perhaps they can involve someone else who can help. If you still don't get anywhere contact your branch secretary and seek their involvement.
