What do people look for in a house before buying?

    We've recently bought and our initial wishlist was:

    1. 2 storey detached, min 4 beds, out of town centre
    2. <£400k, no work required
    3.Market town commutable of cities in <2 hours
    4. Walking distance to shops and >1 decent pub
    5. Ensuite to master and a large kitchen

    This is what we bought:
    1. 3 storey detached, 6 beds, in town
    2.>£400k but basically turnkey
    3. Yes
    4. Yes
    5. Yes

    Took 40 other unsuccessful viewings to get there, but we had to have this one

    0.5 acre or more
    At least a double garage
    Flexible on condition, but must be habitable.
    Quiet location - possibly village
    Easy commute to both mine and hubby's workplaces

    0.5 acre or moreno, 0.3, but we are hoping to acquire a little more from a neighbour

    We were not really sure whether to even look at this house, but decided we might as well go and see. Decided we didn't care about most of the original list, it just felt like home and was definitely the right place for us. :rotfl:

    Ours was:
    3 bedrooms
    2 receptions (to allow overnight guests without being forcing the girls to share again!)
    2 bathrooms - one bathroom and 3 females is not going to work.
    Near to station
    Near to parents
    Less than £200k
    Ready to move into.
    We got:
    Semi open plan (there are some dividing doors between the rooms)
    1 bathroom (need to extend in not too distant future)
    Near to station and parents
    All for £195,000 on the day, plus new boiler, new windows and replacement shed!
