Thanks so much for the advice on my post yesterday. After a few phone calls and a trip to the bank (involving standing in the bank til they handed over the money haha) it's all sorted. We have our wages and have paid them into our new account. So grateful for this thread. Thanks again.

Great News Hutch good to see gaining control from the dreaded creditors. well done

  • Hey all,

    Just giving an update:

    • StepChange DD form sent off
    • StepChange declaration form sent off
    • Proof of wages sent off to StepChange
Just need to email them with all my account numbers for my creditors

Currently writing out all the token letters to my creditors which will be sent off on Monday or Tuesday.

I'm just thinking would it be easier for me to just take the counterfoil for my credit cards and pay my £1 token payment like that and if I did it that way should I just send the token payment letter off (hope that wasn't confusing for anyone but someone on this form I'm thinking MB had paid in this method)

    Thanks

    Eeeeevening all :)

So, you'd think I'd have learned by now not to stray too far away from this forum as a few days means a few pages of catch up and a whole LOAD of new names to add to the collection :D

So for me it's been a funny few days, my occupational sick pay has officially run out and I'm in limbo waiting to see if they are still willing to give me their discretionary benefit... I've [STRIKE]slaved[/STRIKE] worked for them for seven years before I went on sick leave and was relatively senior in the dept. so I'm apparently a strong candidate but they are making me jump through hoops and travel all over the place to see "approved specialist advisors" which is doing little more than cause me pain and grief (not to mention expense, I have to pay upfront and claim travel costs back) :( time will tell I guess, it's just a little nerve wracking knowing that unless something is sorted then I have £72.40 per week to live off* until I'm fixed and ready to rock and roll again!

The good news is that *living back at Mums my cost of living is very low so it's not too much of a hardship and I'm able to pay £45 per month on my DMP so I can keep that going too :)

    Anyway, enough waffle!

It's great to catch up and see all the great advice being given :) entering into a DMP is hard enough without having somewhere to go and tap people up in the same boat for advice and guidance, the best advice I can offer on top f what has already been given is don't be a stranger! Feel free to be strange though, I have an [STRIKE]un[/STRIKE]healthy obsession with bananas and Haribo (in case you'd not noticed being mentioned by my chums Sazzie and GUO ;)) so feel free to be yourself! It's not all work around here, at least not if I have my way it ain't LOL

Some slightly more specific shout out's!!!

Hey Puzz, kick a$$! 10% + is awesome :) and it also means we have the pleasure of your company for long to come m'lady ;) *bows down in a smooth swift manner*

Sazzie and GUO, you like ma' stylee? I have actually in the past considered looking into training to be a counselor... I'm patient and like to help others, plus I think I've gone through quite a lot and survived so I have some life experience... Maybe one day... Depends on if I win the lottery I s'pose ;)

Kate, have fun and safe journey! (I'd say Bon Voyage but that's a bit too "ooh la la" for me pickle ;)) xxx have a great time, you deserve it!

BDFSH, gotta love the emergency fund... But, don't delay on topping it back up! I'd speak to SC and let them know the craic and ask to make reduced payments until you have a little something something back in the kitty ;) it'd be nice if emergencies were a rarity but they have a nasty habit of striking at the time you least need them :( on the plus side, there's always someone looking to offload their old fridge for nowt so I bet you get lucky! :)

    Thanks

That's what I did and just told the creditors that in my letter. Seemed to work OK:D

Sorry yes I knew someone had done that on the forum.

I just seem to think its easier. Should I just word the letter differently saying something along the lines of I will be paying a £1.00 token payment into the account or something. What did you write?

Ooh now you're asking, it was awhile ago now. I think instead of putting 'I enclose a postal order for' bit, I wrote 'I have made a token payment of xx on (date) in cash at my bank.

It's definitely a style, not sure quite what sort of style though!

Still you make us all smile and that my little haribo eating friend is worth it's weight in gold. Hope things are OK being back with Mum and she is spoiling you with some good home cooking:)

  • Hiyas I'm here after some advice once again.

We had a call off SC this afternoon telling us our DMP was set up apart from a debt owing to moorcroft which has been handed our water rates arrears, we were asked in the initial set up to make arrangements to sort this out immediately and agreed to pay them £75 a month to clear the arrears but as the arrears are now with Moorcroft not welsh water they will include the £400 in the DMP SC asked if we could pay the extra into the DMP after sitting down doing the sums we will struggle paying the extra £75 a month. Can we ask to sort Moorcroft ourselves and reduce the DMP I feel really bad asking as they have already set it up ... Or do we just struggle along from out set??? X many thanks for all your help so far x

Gold for the price of Haribo... I aim to please! ;)

Alas, Mum isn't so great at the moment (nothing serious, just old) so it's me who is looking after her!!! I say looking after her, it's more a case of I microwave 2 meals instead of one and make her endless cups of tea... I think in the grand scheme of things, her having me home is a good thing because she struggles with a lot of things now (although she loathes to admit it) but I feel better being around to help her out as much as I can too :)
