thanks bobby :) no, i'd certainly never go chasing comps, we'd just spend what we'd want to spend any way... chances are we probably wouldn't spend THAT much at MGM properties. Though food, drink, shopping and a bit of gambling might add up!

My main query was if it's worth booking my room through MLife? That way, we're spending $1500 or so straight away on the account (which we'd be spending anyway).

The only 'hard' benefits are as follows.

You earn Tier Credits for virtually every dollar you spend - including gaming - across all M life Rewards Destinations For every dollar you spend on your hotel stay, dining, entertainment, or spa you earn Tier Credits - in Las Vegas you earn 25 Tier Credits per dollar spent.

For slot play in Las Vegas M life casinos, you receive ten (10) Tier Credits for every Base Point earned. For table games, you'll earn Tier Credits based on length of play, average bet, and game type.

To ensure Tier Credits are credited to your M life Rewards account, always use your M life Rewards card while playing slots and table games at any participating MGM Resorts International destination. Also, show your M life Rewards card at the time of each qualifying purchase, or charge these purchases to your room and present your M life Rewards card to the Front Desk at the beginning of your stay.

Qualify for the M life Rewards tiers by increasing your Tier Credits with play at slots and/or table games as well as spend on lodging, dining, and entertainment. New M life Rewards members qualify for the benefits of the Sapphire tier. Earn Pearl at 25,000 Tier Credits, Gold at 75,000 Tier Credits and Platinum at 200,000 Tier Credits. NOIR is by invitation only.

Unsure from the wording of your post whether you realise, but my understanding is that you do not have to book through your Mlife account specifically - it's more about whether you book direct (so a lot of the offers that can be found from the links on the first page will also count as they take you via. the hotels direct website)

thanks nvh... yes booking direct/mlife would be the best way to go to secure points.

basically, would having $1300 on the account having booked accommodation "direct", be of benefit for the duration of our stay?

i appreciate that the idea of 'loyalty' is to reward/entice you for your NEXT stay - but that's not likely to be any time soon again!

other than getting closer to the next teir level(i think the points were reset back to 0 at the begining of this month) im unsure if *I* can see any other benefit to booking direct with Mlife unless you are gonna go again and or get some sorta resort credit/gameplay credit
On a side note have you checked your Mlife offers?
I recently checked and had 2 nights comped and had a $100 food and drink credit and i think $50 freeplay- credit, prehaps you have those sorta offers?

    Almost time to go!

    Can't wait!

Anyone been in mid October before. Whats the weather like?

Being Scottish the mearest hint of sun propels me to wear shorts and a t-shirt as it's rationed in our country! Should I pack these and maybe jeans for at night?!

    Cheers!

October is our favourite time to visit. It's usually pleasant during the day but can get cool when the sun goes down. Shorts and t shirt would be fine for daytime.

There may be a link on the first page with average temperatures for you.

https://m.vegas.com/weather/averages.html Here is a link. I couldn't find one on the first page.

You might need it for inside the casinos in the day as well. Some have the air con on max.

With the dollar at near $1.20 I think we will have to seriously think about it,before we decide to book the states for next year.

    It's just becoming a joke.

The thing is when do you actually say "No....I'm not prepared to go at those rates"

If we'd already booked, then fair enough, you live with it.But pre-booking will make us think about it first.
Just waiting for confirmation from wife's work that our dates are ok...then we planned to book the New York/New Orleans trip....but know I'm wondering if we really should.

I know what you mean :( I booked a package with BA for April to Vegas and flights only at the moment for Orlando in August. With the rates what it is, I'm seriously wondering whether to cancel one(preferably the Vegas package, as it's only deposit lost). But that would kill me. But with these rates now it is a bit much, to say the least. And as luck would have it-I'm off to Dubai in two weeks and they're currency is pegged to the USD :(

We just need to be a bit more MSE, that's what this place is for after all ;)

I'm not cancelling our April trip! These things are swings and roundabouts, we'll have saved some good money on previous trips, so it all balances out.

Plus I'm sure there'll still be value out there for food and shopping. And you can't out a price on fun and the experience! ;)
