Thanks Cath and BW. Had a lovely day yesterday, pottering in the garden and getting a few plants transferred into bigger pots etc. It was so nice to get a few hours of sunshine, I'd almost forgotten how uplifting it was with all these dull and dreary days we seem to have been having. Back to work and reality today though :( although the sunshine does make it easier, it just feels like such a shame to be stuck inside. I did come home to a good little bit of news though, I received a letter from pl*snet saying basically that they've overcharged me for my internet and not only are they cutting my monthly dd but they also sent me a cheque for almost £90! :T I'll be using most of it to pay the bill for the work I've just had done on the boiler (it kept cutting out and needed a new switch) but I'm really pleased with my little windfall as it saves me dipping into savings.

I've also received payment from webuybooks (I'd definitely use them again) and have sold a couple of books on Amazon, so my profit will be going straight into the op pot. I feel like I'm finally getting somewhere with all my decluttering and creating order out of (what felt like but probably wasn't :rotfl:) chaos.

Today was mortgage day and I've reduced my mortgage by another £1,000 which feels really good. I'm so close to the next milestone of £45k. I don't think I'll get there this month but you never know. ;) If I keep up at this rate I'll be mortgage free by August 2018, although I want it to be sooner than that - ideally August 2016! I'm not quite sure that 'babysteps' will get me there though - it would probably take huge, pounding dinosaur strides propelled by rocket fuel, but I'm prepared to give it my best shot. Now where's that T-Rex...

Well what a busy day it's been. Finished work and dashed off into town for an appointment (a round trip of just under 2 hours for a 15 minute appointment). Came home and cooked a quick tea - egg and chips, not the healthiest meal but easy and saved me spending on a takeaway. Set up my new phone - a £30 android bargain to be used purely for swagbucks and other money making apps, bought with vouchers of course ;). Did a couple of quick surveys and redeemed a £10 voucher at CP which will go towards a new bedding set I've got my eye on. Checked email and found I'd sold another book on Am@zon so parceled it up - this will be my third trip to the post office since Saturday, I'm not complaining though as it's a good way to declutter and to make some extra ££'s for the op pot. :D Oh and signed up for Lucky Phone, a free daily draw. If anyone's interested in signing up the link for the referral board is here and the website link is here.

And now I think it's time to go and curl up in bed with a book (and probably nod off after 5 minutes...).

  • Just stopping by for a quick mid-week update. It's been a busy week so far. Was on a course yesterday for work which involved a long drive too and from the venue...well it was just over an hour which I know is normal for some but I'm spoilt as I live just 10 minutes away from work. I can claim my petrol back though which is a bonus.

I've felt exhausted today, I could have quite happily taken my blanket into work and curled up and gone to sleep. I'm hoping that I perk up a bit tomorrow. I have managed to get a few jobs ticked off my to-do list this evening though. I've repotted the melon plants and have tidied the reading room (which had turned into a growing room complete with heated propagator, trays, pots and seed stashes :o). It feels good to have reclaimed my space now that all of my veggies are 'up and growing' so to speak.

There hasn't been much op action this past week. I received the rest of the payments from my Am@zon sales so made a small op with those. I've been busy swagbucking so I'll hopefully be able to redeem soon.

Right, book and bed time...I really am living the dream! ;)

Yay the weekend is here! Had a lovely sleep in until 7.30 then got up and shredded. I've already got a load of washing on and have sat and made a list of what I want to get done this weekend as I'm feeling quite productive. So here goes:
    -Clean the car - done
    -Weed the drive - done
-Start weeding the flower beds (probably too much to do in one weekend!) - done
-Plant courgette and squash plants - done
-Sort books to sell - done
    -Catalogue books for work
-Put away painting things (a few bits seem to be lingering around the house from painting the kitchen and need to be returned to their homes) - done
    -Pick 'triffid' rhubarb -done
-Stabilise polytunnel (the support tape is coming undone so i'm resorting to wire!) - mostly done, need more wire
Along with the usual weekend weekly's (hoovering, washing etc) I think I've got plenty to keep me going!

In other news I received a £10 Am@zon voucher from mobilexpr*ssions earlier this week which will be converted into an op and have received 1000 clubcard points from that well known supermarket for referring another MSEer to them for a credit card...If you're thinking about applying it's well worth getting someone to refer you as you both get 1000 points. Oooh and received a lovely, out of the blue £ gift from a family member which will be going towards a new bed. :D Feeling very blessed at the moment.

    Have a lovely Saturday.

Got most of my jobs done despite the weather trying to throw a spanner in the works. I even cleaned out the cupboard under the stairs. Feel exhausted now - need to go to work tomorrow for a rest! :o

  • It's been a steady day today as I've felt a bit under the weather, nothing major but just a bit tired and groggy - think it's a result of the hectic end of term chaos that usually ensues during the last few weeks before the summer holidays. I'm looking forward to having some time to stop and gather myself.

So today I've cut the grass, done some weeding and planted some sunflowers. I've also done a load of washing and dried it outside. I popped to visit my grandparents this morning and sat and had a cuppa with them which was lovely. And now I'm sat chilling on the sofa with a delicious bar of luxury fudge (shhh...it's coated in belgian chocolate - nom! ;)) watching a programme about celebs who are now on benfits - scary stuff.

Speaking of scary stuff, I spent the evening getting to grips with my pension last night and scared myself silly playing with the pension calculator. It looked like a hefty sum until I realised that they had me working til I was 68 - can anyone imagine a 68 year old teacher? It's such a demanding job that I doubt many people would be able to keep going in the classroom until that age. I feel exhausted by it now and I'm only in my early 30's! When I reduced my retirement age to 60 (still pushing it I think) it reduced my pension by almost half. Anyway, it got me thinking that I need to have a contingency plan as I really done want to be in the classroom for that long. I think it's time to take a leaf out of CathT and edinburgher's book and start looking at investing. I've been thinking about it for a while but I feel it's time to take a more serious look at it.

In money making news, I've received a £25 Am@zon voucher from sw@gbucks and have won a few points on luckyphone (3 times since I joined a few weeks ago :D). I've made a small op today and feel pretty happy with how my op's are going this year. I still have a long way to go to hot my target but I'm sure I'll get there.

Gosh I've really waffled on! Time for a cuppa and to catch up on some threads.
