Make £10 a Day February 2017 - Everybody most welcome to join 30th Jan 17 at 7:17 PM
    Hello and welcome everybody

This is the 114th month of this challenge, which was first started by Batgirl, in September 2007.

Thanks to Batgirl for starting it, lynnejk, Rawdinosaur, Emmaglet, Nat21luv, Monkeynut, Sweetpeas, Purpleroses, JesaRose, MizMir for keeping the thread going.

I know this first post is long, but please read as it give tips on how this challenge works. Some of the content has changed

If you're new to the challenge don't be scared - here's how it works:

The aim of this challenge is to make £10 extra a day everyday for the month. A lot of people think this is impossible but it can and has been done, over and over. If you feel £10 is too much why not start at £5 or if you're brave join those who aim for £20 a day! Anything extra you make is great so set whatever target you think you can manage.

It also doesn't have to be £10 each and every day - some days you make more and some days you make less, but aim for £280 extra at the end of the month.

The idea is that everyone posts how they are making extra money and these shared ideas help all of us to learn new ways to help cut debt or earn/save money.

    What cannot be added:
    Wages from your main job

    What can be added:
    Overtime
    Income from a second job
    Daily clicks
    Interest
    Vouchers
    Mystery shopping
    And much, much more.

This board moves pretty quickly, so be sure to subscribe and read it regularly. Below are some ideas to get you started and a great place to read when you're in need of inspiration.

    Sell your old books/DVDs/CDs/games here:
    Amazon.co.uk, play.com, webuybooks, zapper, CEX

Ebay - a place to sell anything and everything.

Gumtree, Preloved, cquot, ebid, craigslist, vivastreet, netmums.com, trade-it , Friday ad, priceminster - these are all places you can sell items too.

Survey sites - mysurvey and pinecone, prolific academic tend to be the best but there are many more it really depends on you finding the ones that work best for you - toluna, harris poll, valued opinions etc

also join Topcashback and Quidco - type in surveys in the search engine and some will pay you to join up with them.

Sealed Pot Challenge 2016 - basically you put your change into a jar over the year so in December you should have a nice pot of money to help

Mobile phone to recycle? try Martin's mobile recycling comparison site first to see where you may get the best deal!

Music Magpie - have cds/dvds you haven't been able to sell at carboots or online. Try your luck here. Is you do sell your albums/dvds be sure to go via quidco to get a few more pennies

etsy and folksy - If you enjoy making crafts why not have a go at selling them on etsy or folksy. They've been getting increasingly busier each year.

Collect Boots points while shopping online.

Don't forget to search for your online shop at nectar.com before you buy, and earn nectar points for buying online, including ebay.

Trying to find other ways to make money? Check out the Boost Your Income board. It is full of ideas, including survey companies and product testing.

Want to help someone else out? Sign up through their referral on the referral board, and leave yours, so someone else can do the same for you.

Keep reading for lots more ideas on how to make more money each month.

This month's challenge is to try and make £280 (or any amount of course!) lynnejk is assisting me and will create the challengers list and update it. She will also be answering any questions she can help with and here for general advice. Having been a challenger for a while, she knows her stuff Thank you lynnejk for your help.

Good luck everybody. Remember to post any questions or comments that you have, and let's go on encouraging each other throughout this month.

We can and we will do it. Who's in?

Yes, Populus is good for high-paying surveys but you're doing very much better than me getting so many payouts. I'm afraid I get screened out for more than I complete. It's so annoying that there are pages full of questions to do before the dreaded screen-out (mostly the very same questions each time). It's all info that they must surely have on their database. For that reason I find the site very frustrating.

I can't say it's my favourite for that reason, plus the fact that the payout level is £50 and they pay by cheque which seems so old-fashioned these days. Prolific is my favourite by a mile, I do well from them

Vouchers have just arrived from Zeek, a lot faster than I expected and by 'Signed For' mail via Royal Mail which I certainly wasn't expecting when even passports don't have to be signed for

I'd bought £40 in Morrisons vouchers and although many of the other retailers' ones had a bigger discount I know I'll really use the Morrisons ones to full advantage. No use buying what I don't need just to save a little bit more. I got £1.60 discount on the vouchers and the £10 off thanks to Martin's promotional code so I'll be able to get £40 worth of shopping for £28.40. Really pleased with this. Have added the £11.60 saving to my total.

I have eventually - taken four days - managed to get a pay out from cash-b-earn.

I'm now on win10 with edge and cannot add a 'trusted site' ?? and cbe kept saying my post-code is 'invalid'. There is no easy way to take a screen-shot on this system and it was driving me up-the-wall. So decided to go for a bank payment and then they want my IBAN for the bank account (how many people know that ?)

Went on-line and the info on the bank did not direct me to find this. Eventually, after a lot of digging about (and curses from me) I found how to get it. Went back to get pay out but no, even though I cancelled the 'block pop-ups' it still wouldn't work.

LB moment !! Went on-line on tablet, entered IBAN, clicked to claim payout and it declared - payout going through Won't add until in bank account though. Fingers xd eh.

Have made £8.65 with bank interest and a couple of surveys - small but beautiful

Hope you all have a successful Saturday

Quick update here. £55.80 so far: £42.00 from overtime, £3 Halifax reward and £10.80 from fleabay sales. Have another 3 sales from Fleabay, 1 hasn't paid yet and 2 are finished yet so will add these when funds are in. Also planning on doing as much overtime this month as possible and upping sales. Have a house full of stuff to declutter and I need to get moving with it. Have booked a holiday for December this year and I need a new car soon so I need to get myself in gear and get making money.

    Hope you're all doing ok

Aesop, are you still online? If so I hope you can help me as I'm tearing my hair out and you're my first port of call with techie issues. Sorry to hi-jack the thread on a non moneymaking issue.

Long story, sorry. I can't get a mobile phone signal in the house, this is a communication black-hole. I need to go about 15 yards down the garden to get a signal on my old 'basic' non smartphone, and that's with all the networks I've ever been on. That was just a regular connection, not Wi-Fi.

I now have a 'new' Android phone and am trying to get it set up with Wi-Fi, to use pretty much exclusively in the house. My laptop runs perfectly on my home Wi-Fi but I just can't get the phone connected. Have tried everything suggested(from the BT website and elsewhere online) and have reset my router etc. I don't want to fiddle with that too much as I had drop-out issues last year and since it was reset then it's been fine.

I can't get further than the phone's set-up procedure as when I enter my router password as requested (which I've checked umpteen times and I know it's correct) I just get the message 'Authentication failed'. I just don't know what else to try, I'm getting desperate after a whole day of it. The SIM has been activated and has been topped up.

I'm definitely NOT going to phone BT's helplines, for all sorts of reasons. I hoped you might have an idea of what I could try. Otherwise, it's over to the Techie board on MSE and they scare me to death on there

It's a Motorola MotoG4. Was given to me brand new by my niece (who won it in a competition and already has an iPhone and a Galaxy). She never registered it or used it herself. It had never even had a SIM in. I helped her decorate her new flat last year and wouldn't take anything for doing it (I love decorating actually, I enjoyed doing it) but said maybe she could help me with something someday. I think she worries that modern life is passing me by seeing as I have so little up to date tech

Will check on the other details later, have to get the meal ready, OH is grumbling

with instagc, you can install on smartphone and get a point each day for logging in.

there is also currently running free sweepstakes you can enter daily. I have won twice with them.

about once a day search to win, you could search 10 times and only one will win.

the best thing to do is search different things and actually click through a link that you find, and stay on that page for a few minutes. Makes them think you are really using the site

there are codes sometimes posted on twitter and shared on mse. You can only enter codes if your account has been active and you have qualified for clicks or surveys etc.

I cant find the link but on mobile if you goto support on instagc, it explains how to put instagc on your phone.

    ok couple of tips:

firstly make sure it is set to wifi on the phone, easy mistake to make

    Touch > Settings > Wi-Fi.
Touch the Wi-Fi power switch to turn it and scan. Your smartphone lists the networks it finds within range.
Touch a network to connect. If necessary, enter Network SSID, Security, and Password, and touch Connect.

make sure the wifi button on the phone is switched to on. you can check this under settings too.

    another

make sure you are connecting to the correct router hub.

I have named ours so when people come over, and ask to connect, I tell them our name, rather than virginmedia1234 and then someone in the street has virginmedia1342

so just make sure you are connecting to the right hub for your home.

if all that fails, turn off wifi on the phone, so slide the little bar to off,

turn off data, and put into airplane mode.

while in airplane mode, turn wifi back on again. slide the button to on and trying connecting again.

once wifi connected turn off airplane mode.

    good luck x
