Make £10 a Day February 2017 - Everybody most welcome to join 30th Jan 17 at 7:17 PM
    Hello and welcome everybody

This is the 114th month of this challenge, which was first started by Batgirl, in September 2007.

Thanks to Batgirl for starting it, lynnejk, Rawdinosaur, Emmaglet, Nat21luv, Monkeynut, Sweetpeas, Purpleroses, JesaRose, MizMir for keeping the thread going.

I know this first post is long, but please read as it give tips on how this challenge works. Some of the content has changed

If you're new to the challenge don't be scared - here's how it works:

The aim of this challenge is to make £10 extra a day everyday for the month. A lot of people think this is impossible but it can and has been done, over and over. If you feel £10 is too much why not start at £5 or if you're brave join those who aim for £20 a day! Anything extra you make is great so set whatever target you think you can manage.

It also doesn't have to be £10 each and every day - some days you make more and some days you make less, but aim for £280 extra at the end of the month.

The idea is that everyone posts how they are making extra money and these shared ideas help all of us to learn new ways to help cut debt or earn/save money.

    What cannot be added:
    Wages from your main job

    What can be added:
    Overtime
    Income from a second job
    Daily clicks
    Interest
    Vouchers
    Mystery shopping
    And much, much more.

This board moves pretty quickly, so be sure to subscribe and read it regularly. Below are some ideas to get you started and a great place to read when you're in need of inspiration.

    Sell your old books/DVDs/CDs/games here:
    Amazon.co.uk, play.com, webuybooks, zapper, CEX

Ebay - a place to sell anything and everything.

Gumtree, Preloved, cquot, ebid, craigslist, vivastreet, netmums.com, trade-it , Friday ad, priceminster - these are all places you can sell items too.

Survey sites - mysurvey and pinecone, prolific academic tend to be the best but there are many more it really depends on you finding the ones that work best for you - toluna, harris poll, valued opinions etc

also join Topcashback and Quidco - type in surveys in the search engine and some will pay you to join up with them.

Sealed Pot Challenge 2016 - basically you put your change into a jar over the year so in December you should have a nice pot of money to help

Mobile phone to recycle? try Martin's mobile recycling comparison site first to see where you may get the best deal!

Music Magpie - have cds/dvds you haven't been able to sell at carboots or online. Try your luck here. Is you do sell your albums/dvds be sure to go via quidco to get a few more pennies

etsy and folksy - If you enjoy making crafts why not have a go at selling them on etsy or folksy. They've been getting increasingly busier each year.

Collect Boots points while shopping online.

Don't forget to search for your online shop at nectar.com before you buy, and earn nectar points for buying online, including ebay.

Trying to find other ways to make money? Check out the Boost Your Income board. It is full of ideas, including survey companies and product testing.

Want to help someone else out? Sign up through their referral on the referral board, and leave yours, so someone else can do the same for you.

Keep reading for lots more ideas on how to make more money each month.

This month's challenge is to try and make £280 (or any amount of course!) lynnejk is assisting me and will create the challengers list and update it. She will also be answering any questions she can help with and here for general advice. Having been a challenger for a while, she knows her stuff Thank you lynnejk for your help.

Good luck everybody. Remember to post any questions or comments that you have, and let's go on encouraging each other throughout this month.

We can and we will do it. Who's in?

Lovely to see you over here, January2015. I feel like we're old friends from chatting so often on another thread

You're very welcome to join us and if there's anything at all you'd like to know please just ask. We're a very helpful and friendly bunch on here, like on the other thread, but maybe replies to queries might take a bit longer to be answered here as a lot of people don't get online all that regularly.

I should warn you, this challenge is seriously addictive. When I joined I never imagined I'd make anywhere near £5 a month but it was a lot easier than I thought and I'm usually managing to hit a £10 target most months now. The extra money sure does help

    Good Luck

I like the sound of getting addicted to this challenge - it will be good to get addicted to clearing the junk we have collected I was going to get rid of all our vinyl records (we have loads) but I see they are making a comeback.....I don't think OH will be able to part with those

I have been in the loft today and taken a car load to the tip (sorted into books and clothes for recycling and a serious load of junk that I don't know why it ever went into the loft in the first place ). However, I have caught the cabling in the loft today and somehow blown the lighting system up there......so I've disconnected the electrics to the loft on the fuse box (flipped the switch lol) and will wait until the other half gets home to see what I have done. It's not as simple as a blown lightbulb - I tried changing that. Definitely done something. Hey ho.....I have a good pile bought down to start dusting it off and getting it onto eBay/facebook sales pages.

Quick heads up in case you haven't read Martin's email today.

£10 discount on gift cards for new subscribers to Zeek (voucher/gift card resale site). Loads of retailers to choose from.

Just joined, bought a £40 card which was discounted anyway and got the £10 off as well. Bargain

Can have eVouchers or a physical card posted out to you. I'm getting the card sent so won't claim the money yet until it comes.

Act quickly, there's a limited number of Martin's £10 off codes (which is MSE10 by the way)

    Good Luck

Just received my payment for the online focus group on Tuesday evening. £40 in Amazon vouchers

Have just completed a survey on PopulusLive and see that my total is now 52 points. That means I've hit their only payout level of 50 which is worth £50. Took a looooong time to build up to this much and the surveys are pretty repetitious and boring. All worth it in the end though

They pay at the beginning of the following month by cheque (how old-fashioned)if I correctly remember the last time they paid me so I won't be claiming the money in my total this month. Thought I'd mention it now though as I'm over the moon to have reached an eventual payout
