    The365 Day Penny Challenge

The365 Day Penny Challenge 29th Dec 16 at 11:03 AM
A friend of mine has just started this challenge on Facebook and I thought it seemed like a fun way of saving.
I have started this thread to keep me motivated but if anyone wants to join me then please feel free to do so and I will start a challenger list.
Also if anyone knows of a simular challenge then please point me in the right direction as I have searched and can't seem to find one.
The idea of the challenge is that
    Day 1- Save 1p
    Day5- Save 5p
    Day 100- Save £1.00
    Day 365 Save £3.65

By the end of the year you will have saved £667.95.

I am not going to save in order of the day as it will get quite expensive as the year goes on but will do it according to the loose change I have at the time. I have started a spread sheet and will shade in each amount I have saved.

Looking forward to meeting fellow money savers

In Jan I stuck to this and put £4.96 away which should be right, provided my maths adds up! Feb I've budgeted £13, I became debt free today so may be able to squirrel away a bit more here and there from now on, but I'm on track at least.

    Up to £193.66 now.

I get paid monthly so sticking the whole month worth in at a time, I mixed the daily amounts up a bit to make sure I'm not putting as much in during a month where I know I won't have as much spare. I even managed to add some extra last month about £25 odd extra.

I dunno if I am officially 'in' the challenge as my name hasn't been added still but I'll post anyhow

Just totted up how much I've saved so far and have reached £23.50. I've changed it slightly for myself in that I started putting cash into a tin, but since I pay for everything by card or direct debit or standing order I rarely have cash in the house, so I have been using a new savings account and transferring it by telephone banking each time. Still crossing off different amounts so not doing it in order but noting which amounts I've paid on which days so as to keep a good record.

Hi guys. Haven't been able to get on as much as I'd like but I'm still saving!

I'm doing mine a bit different where I'm picking a number out of a tub and putting that amount in for that day. I'm currently at £37.70 Thankfully I'm not using a sealed tin for this challenge so I've been able to switch my £ coins around for notes instead.

I've decided to use the savings in the bank from this challenge to help reduce my overdraft.

Need to wait till payday on Tuesday though to "top it up".

This is the longest I have stuck to a challenge

    New addition to the challenge!
    Hi,
We normally only save £2 coins and 5p/2p & 1p coins but have decided to give ourselves a target to aim for so even though we are late starters we have emptied our £2 and small change tins to start us off.
We are starting at the higher end of the chart and using the smaller numbers to balance the coins we put in (hope that makes sense).

So to start us off we have..... £63.30 in our sealed tin
Faced my debts in 2012 & 2013 - back on the bandwagon in 2017.
    1 debt V 100 days (part 25) £98.89/ £1,082
    1 debt V 100 days (part 11) £175 / £1158 18%
    1 debt v 100 days (part 10) - £913 / £979 93%
The 365 Day Penny Challenge £69.96 (loose cash savings)
