The365 Day Penny Challenge 29th Dec 16 at 11:03 AM
A friend of mine has just started this challenge on Facebook and I thought it seemed like a fun way of saving.
I have started this thread to keep me motivated but if anyone wants to join me then please feel free to do so and I will start a challenger list.
Also if anyone knows of a simular challenge then please point me in the right direction as I have searched and can't seem to find one.
The idea of the challenge is that
    Day 1- Save 1p
    Day5- Save 5p
    Day 100- Save £1.00
    Day 365 Save £3.65

By the end of the year you will have saved £667.95.

I am not going to save in order of the day as it will get quite expensive as the year goes on but will do it according to the loose change I have at the time. I have started a spread sheet and will shade in each amount I have saved.

Looking forward to meeting fellow money savers

    Evening

I'm going to do this. There is a chart which helps you calculate each payment, but the payments peak in June, and then start getting lower again, so the end of the year isn't too expensive. It's set out in 3 month chunks too which helps me as I will be making the payments monthly.

Can I join in please? Have just counted up my loose change jar which I was half heartedly using last autumn and have found £12-08 to get me started
I'm not doing it in order so I've ticked off some of the big numbers at the end of the year

Good luck all and happy new year!

Can I join please? This sounds like a fab challenge and a cheap one to keep up with, especially as I'll be debt free by Feb so for me, it'll be great to have something to start boosting my savings.

I opened a new savings account today for the challenge, I had to have a minimum opening balance of £1 so started with £1.01 to get me going. Looking forward to seeing the total grow and hope to use the final amount towards a dream holiday to Australia in 2018!

I took an idea from Skint D*d and as well as saving in the jar I'm also going to save weekly by transferring the funds from one account to my other account (so I don't spend it). OH is giving me his "slummy" as well

This is such a fab challenge, a great way to save for next Christmas. If you start today and do it every day until the end of November that's over £550

I save a set amount per week and put it in a separate savings account. Nationwide let you rename your accounts so I have one named "Christmas", helps to keep me motivated!

    Hi
my OH and I have just finished doing this for 2016, we haven't cracked open the pots yet to see our final total. Can I be added to the list for 2017 please. I will be doing it in reverse this time and will be making the month's deposit when January's payday finally comes.

Can I double check if its actual pennies we are saving or coinage? haha
