    Remember you're STILL a Womble - 2017 challenge 24th Dec 16 at 3:49 PM
    Dear All

Finally have time to update what this challenge is about. Firstly what is wombling?

Wombling is at its most basic level finding things. That you can use and someone else decided they couldn't. When I started this challenge in January of 2015, I used to Womble a lot of brand match coupons, these were just like finding money and I have no idea why people ever threw them away.
My initial idea was to try and find one thing each time I left the house that would make my life cheaper in some way. Roadkill (change found on the road, bus, self service till draw) is a great one for that. I find that I can usually find at least 1p per journey and although some people would say what's the point? Because I trained myself to look for coins as second nature I have found a lot of money over the years £ 84.20 in 2015, & £62.28 last year.
I often find useful big items left in the street outside people's houses with notes saying 'take me away' last year I even found a Hoover. I needed a new one so took it. This saves me quite a lot of money. My own wombling style is finder, but a lot of people Womble a lot of money by doing BOGOFFs. Or eBay buying.

YS shopping is worth a mention. If you are able to buy food with a huge mark down then that's a Womble.

Basically if you are able to make a saving in any way, including comping then that's a Womble. I don't have any strict rules for this challenge and quite often we just chat! So come on in and join the free fun.

    Bob

My wombling year got off to a good start today - as it's payday then this is where I'm starting to count from. Today I used a £5 voucher Icyland gave to me as a Christmas present, and also an 8p off per litre of fuel, saving me £2.72 when I filled the tank up.
Bob - do you want to swap places with me please? I feel as though you should be number 1 in your own challenge.

PM02 yes thank you, I've signed you up. Wombling can be many things to many people. To me it is finding things of value to you and using them. It is thinking of everything in our daily world as having a value and being determined to squeeze the last drop out of things to collect that value. It is YS shopping as a first choice not as an after thought. It is finding coins on the street and using them to keep your own costs down. It is BOGOFFs, couponing, car pooling. Any time you find yourself with more money for less you have done a Womble.

    Morning all!
    Happy New Wombling Year
    Breaking Wombling news from yesterday.......
Went in to Superdrug to get hand soap. Went to get two own brand which were around 79p each or two for £1.39, and they scanned as two for 35p - they are changing the packaging on own brand items, there is no shelf-edge-label (s-e-l) it just scans as clearance item. The shop staff were totally confused.
Might be worth a look if you are needing anything to see if the labelling changes half way down the row of bottles. Just a quick heads up.
    Saving me £1.20.

Went into charity shop and found a blazer in DS1s size for £2.50 - it was on the list of things to look out for in charity shops in the immediate future.
    Saving me £23.50
Found a school jumper bnwt £5 never worn, £1
Saving me £4 - also on the list of things to look out for

What was not on the list was Risk for £2.50 brand new in box but water damaged - obv put in a cupboard/shed as unwanted gift, cheapest on Amazon £34.99 (which was why I didn't buy it for Chrismas, I knew it would pop up somewhere, saving me £32.49) and a black waistcoat for DS4 who loves his BHS closing down sale 25p purple bow tie and wore it all Christmas day. So it looks like I am slowly getting the boys wedding suit finery chazzer style.

Oxfam was rammed with new M&S stock (they clear items through Oxfam where we are - lots of pyjamas/underwear/dresses/mens shirts ) I swear they actually have more bnwt stock than actual donations in there.

    Happy Shiny New Thread
