How Much Will You Spend In 2017? Challenge 1st Dec 16 at 8:00 AM
    This challenge is about listing everything you spend.;

    Greetings Cards
    Presents
    Food shopping
    Bills
    Credit
    Newspapers
    subscriptions
small items eg newspapers , drinks , sweets (it all adds up)
    Direct Debits

EVERYTHING YOU SPEND - I am curious to see how much we spend in a year and where cutbacks can be made.

No need to count savings going between bank accounts as you still have the money.

This challenge will start on the 1st January 2017

Hi, please can I join as well? I was thinking just yesterday this year i want to keep a record of how much I spend daily/monthly/annually in 2017. I wanted to do this at the end of 2015 but never did it. Defo want to start this tomo I wont be including any bills or fixed expenses like internet. Just on my daily spending, which is normally grocery/toileties other odd bits here and there which has definitely gone out of hand this last few years. Hopefully this challenge will help me realise where I am going wrong. I know i do spend alot on junk food which has to stop especially as i also want to slim down in 2017. Theres alot i want to do

Hi, could I join you all please? We spent around £9000 in total last year. But I lost track of the figures a bit. Hopefully if I record them here I'll do better. So far have spent £24.99. £10 for OH's birthday present. £5 on chocolates and crackers for next Christmas, ( well hidden so won't be touched till then), £1 on dog treats, and £10.99 on milk, eggs, ( I think our hens are on strike,) and reduced stewing steak for the freezer. Good luck everyone. M2m.

Oh, and just as an addition, I'm using an app to track all of my spend on my phone - its scary already!

I have set myself a £150 per week budget (to include everything, eating out, food/groceries, clothing etc etc) and I now have only £15.24 to last until Friday! eek!

I'll try to do a full update each Friday!

My first spend day of the year and I have sucessfully tracked it all on an app. Hopefull tomorrow will add to spreadsheet as well.
I probably won't post amounts here as I find I end up comparing myself to others and feeling like I come up short even though I have no idea of their circumstances. Instead I am getting into the habit of tracking spends and trying my best to keep going all year. I'll also post any insights from my tracking. Insight from today is that as I purchase I need to extrapolate my spending. It struck me today that 'just' spending £10 a week on charity shop bargains would end up as £520 a year.....obvious I know but sometime light bulb moments are!

I am really glad I joined this thread, as it is really going to help with getting on with the other challenges I've joined on here this year (12k in 2017 and virtual sealed pot). I always wonder where all of my money goes, and its becoming a bit clearer now. I hadn't included, actually I hadn't even thought of the money I spend weekly on things like kids' bus fares, gymnastics classes, drama classes etc etc! Just those three things in total add up to nearly £40 a week! which reduced my £150 budget quite a lot, but I'm going to stick at £150 a week for now and I'll increase it if I need to. I'm just determined to save a pretty significant sum this year

    Afternoon everyone!

I stumbled across this thread today - and thought - this is a really good idea! I already do a budget, and am managing to make some savings... and have just over 2K to clear on credit cards.

As an exercise in spending - I'm curious to see exactly where all my wages end up over the course of a year!

    Please may I join too?
