How Much Will You Spend In 2017? Challenge 1st Dec 16 at 8:00 AM
    This challenge is about listing everything you spend.;

    Greetings Cards
    Presents
    Food shopping
    Bills
    Credit
    Newspapers
    subscriptions
small items eg newspapers , drinks , sweets (it all adds up)
    Direct Debits

EVERYTHING YOU SPEND - I am curious to see how much we spend in a year and where cutbacks can be made.

No need to count savings going between bank accounts as you still have the money.

This challenge will start on the 1st January 2017

I've been keeping an eye on expenditure but it's been a heavy month!!

    Figures:

    Groceries : £158.25
    Household: £55.53
    Petrol; £172.03
    House Insurance: £115
    Car Insurance: £230
    Breakdown cover: £55
    Car repairs (brakes) £170
    DD's : £248.12

So, if my maths is correct (I've done this in my head so no guarantees! ) it comes to a grand total of £1149.43 so far!!

Admittedly, the insurances are annual and the brakes were an expense which I wasn't planning on but even so....what a nightmare!!
    CC £0/£2000; OD £2000/£2000; Relative Debt £0/£6000; Car fund £3500/£8000; Sofa Fund £0/2000; GC £322.34/£3600 MFW £50/£22968.96

January Spending - OMG How Much?
    Hi there

So with January finally over, I looked at my tracking sheet and nearly freaked out - then I remembered that I look after paying the bills for 3 properties & started to breath again.
I've not included mortgage or debt repayment below, because I'm paying as much as I can off those & want to use this challenge to see where I can cut down on the other spending. So here goes:

    Staple Food - £33.66
    Treat Food - £61.62
    Toiletries - £1.50
    Household goods - £17.86
    Charity - £16.25
    Gifts - £23.40
    Petrol - £40.53
    Car Stuff - £2.50
    House Main/Utilities - £223.98. (1/3rd of actual total)
    Health / Injury - £76.67
    Entertainment - £35
    #9 TOTAL FOR MONTH - £532.97

Definitely room for improvement - although food spend is way down on last year. I've managed to reduce my mobile, landline and broadband costs this month. Utilities are probably high due to winter heating and light.

Thanks for setting up this challenge - it is a real eye opener for me. There is no getting away from the facts of what you buy, when you write it all down - and then add it all up!

Hi all, I've done a proper tot up and in January I have spent a whopping total of £3599.98 - that includes everything - DD's, SO's the odd 1.52 on debit card etc etc! I'm hoping February will be a bit lighter as of course a lot of the January bills were to cover xmas.

You cannot count on your spends because life is unpredictable and you never know what sort of expense is waiting for you....

It may be that I included some things this month that I didn't last month i.e. mortgage overpayment - but I'll include it going forward...

March is not going to be cheap either! hey ho...

Sorry for not posting my totals, I have been very limited for time. I have saved all of my receipts and will do one big total soon, for both spending and Direct Debits.
