  • I can't wait to join this challenge next year! Would love to make a massive overpayment on the mortgage, we also have a lot of renovations to do so this would go a long way. Love seeing everyone's progress.

I think I am going to have to say I am done for this year. I have reached my target which I am happy about but OH retires this month so we have had to buy him a car as his company car goes in 2 weeks time. Also very pleased our daughter got a new job a bit closer to home so we have given her some money to help with the move as she has to sell her house and buy a new one 100+ miles away.

However OHs pension starts next month and we get a very large TFLS so finances all up in the air at the moment.

I don't think I'm going to hit my target :( I've got 2 paydays left and £7500 of target remaining... I might be able to do another £3000 leaving me ~£4500 short.

That just means you were challenging yourself with your target rather than setting a number you knew you'd reach. None of us cool kids meet our targets ;)

Well, I got deliciously close but will have to forego the cigar, I fear.

On the plus side, our beautiful new kitchen should be installed in early November and I wouldn't have been able to afford it without what this thread helped me to achieve.

I'll be shelling out the best part of 5 grand very soon which puts a big hole in my savings, but I'll continue to report on progress to see just how close to my target I actually got. And how much I'd havehad if we disn't need a new kitchen ;)

I think I'm also done for this year. I didn't manage to save my usual 1k this month due to a £320 dentist bill and going a bit wild in boots and spending just under £200 on make up. So I need to pay £507 to my credit card this month and have put £500 into my savings taking me to £8200 saved for this year, so I did reach my target! :)
However November/December pay I will need to use the money for my yearly travel card (1,512) and Xmas things. I also need to book my flight + accommodation for my sisters wedding.
I will be back in 2017 but wish the rest of you still taking part good luck for the rest of this year! :)
    Saved so far - £28,890.97

  • Third expensive month in a row! This month was £650 on a new washing machine and £110 on an annual membership, but I did get a a bit extra due to work expenses refunded. So £900 saved overall.

Still on track to meet my target, only two more months to go!

Last standing order has just gone out so im declaring this month
    £650
it was £1650 but I paid off a credit card last month with my matured FD regular saver after I declared here so I have taken it off this months savings..

I love the regular savers just send the money and get rewarded with interest at the end of a year, next one to mature is Nationwide at the end of November, which will be quite a nice one, to subsidise my income in December/January as I get paid early in Dec, so its a long wait till payday comes again.

I will continue to declare even though I have made my target, the SO have already been set up, after all its all changing next year with interest rates and reward payments, so I will be moving some money around to maximise where I can...

Keep going everyone, after all there is .....

  • Hello everyone,

Sorry I've been missing in action for a few months. It's been lovely to read everyone's updates. Unfortunately no saving has been done my end as I've had some huge house buying bills to pay. I need to buy a car before the new year too so I think I'm going to say goodbye until 2017 when I will start again, fingers crossed as a homeowner...

Thanks for all your support over the last two years, I wouldn't have saved anything like as much without the support of this thread.
