Yes saw this on my last trip to the USA. The lady said her dog travelled everywhere with her in the cabin. He wasn't overly keen to get in its box but she said he always slept through it.0

Groups of drunks going off for a hen/stag party or football match,
&
obnoxious and loud 7/8/9 year olds running up and down the aisles screaming and shouting and knocking into everyone in an aisle seat.0 -
A friend of mine brought a cat back from Greece in the cabin. I can't remember which airline it was though.

Rather have dogs on planes than children!! They are far more well behaved and quieter for a start!0

So how does that work with quarantine? I'm never knowingly within 10m of a dog due to my allergies so I really have no idea what the procedure is. I'd be amazed if you could fly from the UK to the US with a dog on your lap and just walk through passport control.
Of course there are some countries where a dog on board would just be the inflight catering...0 -
So having a dog at your feet, and the person sat next to you being unable to exit the plane in an emergency due to 'a dog in the way' and duly burning to death or similar, is a good idea?
It makes a mockery of restrictions on hand luggage.
At least that goes in an overhead locker.0 -

And what about smuggling drugs.
Do dogs have to submit to a body search? It's your money. Except if it's the governments.0
