Hi crafters,

Welcome to the new 2016 stash busters thread.

You can find the 2015 thread here:-

And the 2014 thread here:- http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?t=4824211

Well done to all the crafters who took part in 2015. Everyone was amazing and the thread helped so many people that hopefully 2016 can be the same.

I know that I am determined that 2016 WILL be the year where I actually use and enjoy the stash I have already bought rather than just get that quick thrill from the purchase of more goodies :)

For those of you who are new here are a quick recap of the (very loose) rules:-

The rules of the challenge are simple.

You can make anything you like but everything you make must be made using items from your current stash.

You are allowed to print things from cds etc and print any photos etc which may be needed for scrapbooking pages but you must not buy any new stash until your target has been met (except for if it is something to enable you to finish of a project such as adhesive etc).

However this challenge is just for fun so if you do sin (and I'm sure there will be many - with me at the top of the list!!) then post for forgiveness and keep creating and having fun xxx

So who's with me this year? Tell me your target and you'll be added to the list :) Old and new members are welcomed alike :)

Anyone can join in at any time :)

Happy stash busting :)

So the challenge is back for another year and once again I am going to set myself a ridiculously high target of 2016 :)

Who's with me for a spot of stash busting ?

Don't worry you don't have to have a high target - anything you make to use up your stash will be great :)

Hello to everyone who has joined so far :)

Kit1 - I started crafting many years ago but actually think I got to a point where I enjoyed buying the crafting goodies more than actually making anything! Hopefully those days are now behind me and I love nothing better than sitting down and creating something :)

Rummer - welcome again. Can't wait to see what you create :)

Mrs- moneypenny - welcome. That yarn sounds lovely. Can't wait to see the finished blanket :)

WellI nearly failed before I had really started. I am getting everything ready for Project Life and was just about to order some printable page planners when I remembered I was not allowed to spend anything so I grabbed some squared paper (from my stash) and made my own page planners which are now nicely copiedready to use in an album :)

Not only am I feeling smug I have also saved £3.35 :)

Let the stash busting begin :)

I've seen project life mentioned on Pinterest but wasn't sure how it worked.

I think I will commit to 52 finished items that will average out one a week so I'll see how I go.

So far I've managed to crochet 5 balls of the yarn so I'm half way through the blanket, but some of my planned cross stitches are big projects so will take a while but little things like the prem hats for hospital, hedgehogs for the sanctuary and stocking for my class at school are little quick knits.

Our spare room is my craft room... And I love to sew, make jewellery, cards and various other bits, but we've found out we need to turn it into a nursery! The stash has to be tamed... So I'd like to sign myself up for 100 makes please.

Congratulations. What a fab reason to stash bust.
Hopefully you can turn some of that stash into lovely things for your new arrival :)

    Welcome aboard :)

That's where I first came across Project Life (Pinterest has a lot to answer for!).

PL is basically a way of documenting your everyday life. The idea is you take a photo or two a day and then use the divided pockets o really easily make a record of your year. When I first started three years ago I went mad and bought loads of expensive cards and pockets and albums but I have learnt that actually you can use just regular scrapbooking supplies and achieve similar results for a fraction of the cost. However because I have enough PL stash to open my own shop I think I will stick to the traditional PL pocket system for the next few years in order to use the stash :)

Well done on being half way on the blanket already and massive pats of the back for using your crafting to help others :)
