Pre DRO and water company

Hi all,
I am in need of a little help please, I have debts totalling almost £600 with the water company. I have not received a bill in almost two years(!) and whilst getting everything together for the DRO, I know I need to show that I am paying the water company in order for it be included in an expense, I contacted them. They have said that I must pay their debt collections team and all debt must be paid off before they give me a rate to pay. I tried to set up a new account for me to pay a set rate then have the debt under an old account but they declined this. They have quoted me £38.00 per month once the debt is paid off. I have tried to explain to them my circumstances but they just don't care. What should I do, pay £38.00 per month anyway or leave it as the debt will only get bigger?
Also I am waiting for my permanent contract to come through at work, for which there are a tonne of background checks, which should be done in the next few weeks so that I can then complete my DRO application and send off to the charity that is helping me. Do you think it's worth me stating that I am going to be entering a DRO or keeping stuchm? I work in a call centre for life insurance.
Thanks

Put 38 per month as your water expense and schedule the whole debt.
I don't see why you should tell anyone what your intentions are. After you get a DRO (assuming your application is successful) then you would have to answer any direct questions about whether you have one.0
