    Feeling your house frustrations. I keep saying we've lost control of the house to plastic sh***! Tried to opetate a 1 in 1 out policy but Grandma 's relentless buying of plastic noisy toys from charity shops always beats us!! And always no off button too!!

    Thanks Shangaijimmy! Its nice to know i'm not alone in the battle with plastic and carp! :eek::rotfl:

    I empathise with you re the bargain hunting nana! The MIL does that with clothing sales - my DD has 4 swimming costumes (various sizes for her to 'grow into').

    A very chilled day has been had in the NHS household, with both me and DD moving at a nicer pace and taking some time out to build dens/dress up etc around the usual errands :D

    We did need to go out to the shops though and spent a total of £19.57. This included 2 birthday gifts, a birthday card, some mailing bags for ebay stuff and milk,eggs etc.

    I was chuffed to see that our local Clintons store had a 50% sale, so I picked up a lovely wine glass for my friends birthday in September (we only do small gifts, unless its a special birthday). The glass should have been £9, but I paid £4.50 :money:

    Then we hit Wilkos to grab a gift for a birthday party DD is going to at the weekend. We got a colouring book, a sticker book and some colouring pencils for £4.50 - the back of the books showed the RRP to be nearly £13 excluding the pencils! :eek:

    Overall, a good day :)

    NHS I've really enjoyed reading your whole diary and have subscribed. You seem so organised and focused it's great to read! Glad you managed some den building and dressing up too!

    My youngest is four and everyday asks for the forest or farm to build dens. Thankfully our local farmer is very understanding!!

    Thanks for popping by Earth Girl. Farm dens sound lovely - we live in a city suburb so we went with dining chairs and bed sheets :rotfl:

    3 Ebay sales this week. 1 Item still to be posted; but £14.19 transferred to savings after fees and postage costs.

    I did the weekly shop and a petrol top up - £80 total. The only other spend this week will be the final ebay package. 3 more items still listed.

    Great figures NHS. I'm going to start a new budgeting method but I can't decide what to set for 2 adults and two boys (4 and 6) for groceries. If I've had a good week it's £40 but then I spend more the next week!

    I used the tip from the old style grocery challenge - some people set a budget and then bring it down little by little (some are grocery shopping pro's).

    I have found that meal planning has worked well for me, but I am still working at it; as its not very adventurous in terms of variety. We also used to have a lot of waste and meal planning has helped reduce this.

    Onepoll and Swagbucks have been checked and tasks/surveys completed.

    Jobs for tomorrow;
    Usual cleaning and laundry jobs
    Post last ebay parcel
    List 3-4 new items on ebay

    Well I have gotten a bit big for my boots . . .

    As if by magic, the dishwasher broke this morning - leaking water onto the kitchen floor (a lot). This MF journey business is 1 step forward, 1 back.

    Positives -
    1. We have savings to replace the item.
    2. I was in when the leak happened, and not at work.
    3. I can get the towels and sheets used to mop up the water washed and dried today, with it being sunny.


    Random question - does anyone know whether you can re-use the door part of a built in dishwasher, or would I be better looking at a free-standing unit?
