The cheapest way is by bus but it's also the longest journey:
Walk to Cromwell Road Bus Station (Bay A2), Kingston Upon Thames
3 minutes, Depart 07:21, Arrive 07:24
Take 85 bus to St Mary's Church Putney Pier (Stop T), Putney Bridge, Putney
39 minutes, Depart 07:25, Arrive 08:04London United
Take 22 bus to Green Park (Stop J), Piccadilly, Green Park
44 minutes, Depart 08:12, Arrive 08:56London General
Walk to Bond Street Underground Station - TfL
16 minutes, Depart 08:56, Arrive 09:12You know what uranium is, right? It's this thing called nuclear weapons. And other things. Like lots of things are done with uranium. Including some bad things.

The easiest way would be one of the following:
South West Trains (SWT) to Vauxhall, then Victoria line to Green Park or Oxford Circus;
SWT to Waterloo, then Jubilee line to Green Park or Bond Street.
Both of the above would be cheapest with a Zones 1-6 Travelcard. He would also be able to use this for any leisure/weekend travel within Zones 1-6, including all London buses.
However he can't use the 16-25 Railcard for a Travelcard (or a South West Trains season ticket).
A cheaper but longer journey would be SWT to Vauxhall then Bus 88 to Regent Street. For this he would only need a Zones 2-6 Travelcard as buses are not zonal. The journey would take longer. If he ever wanted to travel in Zone 1 he would just pay the extra Zone 2 <> Zone 1 fare as Pay as You Go.
Prices here (click on "Adult caps and Travelcard prices") - https://tfl.gov.uk/fares-and-payments/fares
Note that the Travelcard fares will increase on 2 January so if he buys an annual ticket before then, he will save money.0 -
Also, if he can use either Berrylands or Norbiton station rather than Kingston station, these are both in Zone 5 which would also save money as he would only need a Zones 1-5 or Zones 2-5 ticket.0

How about changing at Clapham Junction and going to Victoria? It is then a pleasant walk through Green Park. Depending on which end of New Bond Street you are aiming for it would take 20-30 minutes.0

thanks all much appreciated all great suggestions and the walk sounds nice in good weather. Also like the idea of zone 5 not 6!!
This site always comes up with the info!0
