Well, nobody said it was going to be easy.

Dro came to an end about 2 months ago ish.

It's been a battle, but most companies have actually satisfied the debt.

Apart from:

Argos: told me they would prefer to be paid and then update the credit file

Lloyds Banking Group: Refuse to acknowledge every letter the insolvency service have sent, and still send the bailiffs on a regular basis. I just shove the laminated copy through the door with a (still included so off you go postit)

And:

Capital 1. To be fair they defaulted the account on the DRO date, but getting it satisfied is like getting blood out of a stone.

Between these 3 i've got a headache, and thats just the phonecalls this morning.

A warning to you all approaching the shining light at the end of the DRO, the fun is about to start. For me anyway, i've got a headache and fed up. Hope everyone else has more luck!

Have you talked to the FOS yet?

    http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/consumer/complaints.htm
If you’d like us to contact them for you, just get in touch.

The FOS can write on your behalf with your complaints, and creditors tend to pay much more attention to a letter from them. ;)

I have just had a nightmare with Argos too. They keep insisting I send them a discharge notice, and I keep arguing with them that you do not get a discharge notice on a DRO. I have sent them copies of the insolvancy register when my DRO had finished saying so but that was not good enough. Several phone calls later they have said that on this occasion they will change it but I really need a discharge notice (bangs head) just awaiting a month to check it has been updated.

Strange your having difficulty with capital one they did mine straight away. I am having trouble with Vanquis have sent 3 letters recorded but so far nothing has been done. Think I now need to do what Fermi has said above about them.

My OH had issues with Lloyds, because when he had the debt it was Lloyds TSB, now lloyds say its TSB debt and TSB said its Lloyds debt. He ended up going into branch with all the letters asking who the debt is with and got an answer and also asked for an address to the best address to write to, to get it sorted. After 6 months finally sorted.

    Good luck

Argos know you don't get or need a notice, They do it just to be as awkward as possible out of spite.

Tried the ombudsman, they just 'lose' or do not receive the documents

Well that's what they claim anyway

Argos are just playing silly games I think

Will have to take it to the FOS and ICO as formal complaints at the appropriate time then. Sometimes you do.

What I don't understand is that the DRO is recored on your file for 6 years right? Well ALL debts showing default before that DRO date will obviously be included in the DRO.

So why go to all the trouble even looking at your credit file for 6 years after your DRO completion date? Just be patient and wait it out.

I can see it being a problem if they still record the debt AFTER 6 years, but surely all debts are wiped off your credit report after 6 years anyway? What am I missing here?

Tell them you want to be considered for a job in financial services, this worked for me with the last creditor to put 'settled' to be fair it could have been more a consolation as I'd already lost the job offer (couldn't have both public records and a default showing) but it ended up resolved really very quickly, I even sent them an original letter from the Insolvency service so they could learn more about DRO's when they tried to pull you need a certificate of discharge in their initial ignorance

Remember you've paid £90 for some of the 6 year ignorance so you only need the DRO to show in public or court records after the memorandum period so be strong with them, have no qualms especially in the case of past payday loan borrowers having entries wiped when you think about it! Hope you are on way to settled!

Err try fraud prevention, plus it's viewed as generally poor and inept to not know what's on the report(s) and how it shows..

    - Companies often do have defaults late or not at all.
    - Sometimes not marked as satisfied. Doing the cleanup forces then to do so and to recognise the inclusion in the DRO via that, which in turn helps prevent accounts being chased post DRO and/or sold on to another debt collector.
    - As said, if something is incorrect on your report it is wise to check and sort it.
    - Wise to do that as soon as possible, as debts do get sold on, companies go out of business, change registered name under DPA etc, meaning that leaving it to the end of the 6 years to sort out anything wrong can result in it being significantly harder or even impossible to contact the people with DPA responsibility for correcting the entry.
    - Getting this final thing sorted is part if the process for many people, putting an end to the whole thing having it done, dusted, and completed.
