Bathroom tap - hard to turn on and off

Hi everyone,

After waiting for OH or his dad to fix this tap for over 6 months I thought i'd give it a try myself, but have not idea what I am doing so wondered is a job I could do? Basically the cold bathroom sink tap (is not a mixer tap) is really hard to turn on and off. Not sure what else to say, standard tap I think.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Could want the tap washer replacing

Before carrying out number 5. close the tap fully, then open about half a turn, otherwise the valve will jam against the body, and when replacing, open the valve fully before refitting then as you screw it in, open again before finally tightening with the spanner.

Replacing the tap washer probably won't help.

When taps are hard to turn open and closed it is normally a problem with the head gear.

You can dismantle the tap and put it back together and lubricate the spindle with silicone grease that is suitable for use on potable water.

If that does not work you can buy a replacement head gear.
