Widow benefits 7th Dec 17 at 7:26 PM
My friend is recently widowed. Her state pension is only £300 a month. Are there any widow benefits she can claim? Thanks

She may be eligible for Pension Credit

    Re Widow benefits see:
    https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/benefits/bereavement/
but..."You also need to be under State Pension age", so the recently introduced Bereavement Support Payment is not likely to be open to her.

I would suggest she gets a benefit check from her local CAB / advice agency.

    £300 every four weeks?

Is she entitled to claim on her late husband's contributions?

Has she been in contact with DWP?
