Do Hargreaves Lansdown have any US Index Tracker Funds?

I can't see any when I select the North America sector under funds.

They have ETFs, but I'd prefer a fund as they charge to keep an ETF in an ISA.

Cheers

I think an ETF would be your best choice.

Something like the ProShares DOG (short Dow) or SH (short S&P 500)

  • There's an HSBC American tracker which I believe tracks S&P 500

Cheers, I don't think that would be best in H-L though so I'll have to look at other places. I'm only going to be drip-feeding £50 a month and H-L charge £9.95 on each deal.

Do these share builder places that charge a small amount for regular buying of shares, also do ETFs?

This one isn't showing on Hargreaves Lansdown. Are you saying you've seen it on H-L or just that this is one tracker available?

HL, being a bundled platform, will only have a limited range of trackers without additional charge (loss leaders effectively). If you want to use a wider range of trackers then you need to look at other platforms which are unbundled or have a different charging structure. Although it may be better to wait until June when the FSA ruling on platforms is due to be published (which could kill off unbundled platforms - no way to tell yet how that is going to go).

You'd be selling global companies in order to buy dollars with those two. Weaker of the two is the currency value

Ah, I should have searched for index instead of tracker :)
