Hi there,
So been looking on the internet and not really finding the answer. So my partner lives with me in a property that I own under shared ownership. The house is in my name i.e mortgage and rent paid by me etc.
He pays me £336 each month towards utilities, food contribution etc. Does this class as income? Do I have to tell HMRC?
I understand under the rent-a-room scheme this is below the threshold but he isn't technically a lodger?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Shared household expenses are not income.
Worst case for him non IHT exempt gifts.
Worst case for you he claims it was also contributions to the mortgage and claims beneficial interest.0 -
Your partner contributes towards living costs. It is not classed as income for you. HMRC do not need to be informed of anything!0

you are co-habiting, therefore you comprise one household and he certainly is not a lodger otherwise he would not be in your bed. It is merely, to use an old fashioned term, "housekeeping" money used to pay the bills.0
