Dunkirk - IMAX laser versus 70mm IMAX - help needed in choosing

Trying to decide whether to see Dunkirk at Leicester Square (IMAX Laser) or at BFI IMAX (70mm IMAX) (or maybe even science museum IMAX)

Apparently both show the full uncropped picture in the correct aspect ratio (1:1.43)

However apparently the resolution of the picture is far greater at BFI IMAX since its not digitally projected & also the size of the screen is larger

My issue is that I have a cineworld voucher (from a compeition win) that I can use to go see the film at leicster square for free - if I go see it at BFI IMAX instead I am paying £20+ for a seat & the best seats mostly seem to be booked up already

So my main question is how much better is the 70mm IMAX picture compared to the IMAX laser picture ? - is it worth paying the £20+ rather than using my voucher

Having been in the film industry, I would always go for the 70mm film over any digital projection. Film always has a better depth of focus and clarity.

But this is MSE, you've got a freebie voucher. I would go there for free.

While it's not got the full height of the 70mm version, the laser IMAX screen at Leicester Square still has an incredibly good picture and a more up to date sound system than the other venues. Unlike xenon projectors this does do true blacks and contrast that's comparable to film. The screen is slightly wider than the BFI but not as tall.

Main negative is that the legroom is pretty poor (not sure how BFI and Science Museum compare).

TIP: If you go to Leicester Square on a weekday and fancy a drink before the film, the Icon Bar at the Empire Casino next door has half price drinks from 5pm to 8pm, which means you can sit with a £2.50 beer or gin and tonic on the balcony overlooking the square!
