    to find your mac id:

    • In the start menu search, type cmd
    • run cmd
    • type in ipconfig /all or getmac and it should locate both commands and the window will remain open

getmac is easiest to understand tbh

I wondered about something like this but it has been set up for ages and it is only this week that something has appeared.

Might just be the first time some one's used it!

I found one the other week, and it was the EDF meter man checking his Facebook page on his laptop in his van :)

asbokid - wow, thanks for that info! Have only one problem - where do I find the MAC code on each device? Have found it on my iphone but can't find it on my laptop - but I am a div!

If it's a Windows laptop, the MAC must be shown in the control panel - network devices, or some such..

Alternatively, use the ipconfig tool which you can access from a DOS prompt.

Click Start, then Run, then type cmd.exe in the text box and type ipconfig /all will show you the following.

The "Physical Address" is the MAC address:

To discover the manufacturer of a network interface, you only really need the first six hexadecimal digits of the MAC address.

In the example above, the first six hex digits of the MAC address are 00-10-4B

Those first six digits, hyphenated as three pairs are then feed into this database search engine:

    http://standards.ieee.org/develop/regauth/oui/public.html
    maclookup1.jpg

    And the results are....

BT Fon / BT Openzone access DOES NOT show up on your HomeHub.

Users are invisible to you and they cannot tell which HomeHub they are connected to.

The unknown devices are probably your own smartphones if you have them, or the devices you know you have got connected, if you haven't named them!

Well I went out to have a look, before I started panicking.

....maybe I should panic more though, based on what withabix says though, because if he/she's right then he guessed my router password!

Any network drives, network printers, AV receivers, Bluray players or any other devices?

Just delete them and see what has disconnected.

Son has given out your Hub password?

We don't have any of those things. I have blocked the unknown things.

The kids don't know the password :)

Think maybe I should just change it?
