Phone calls from Wonga

Hi,
has anyone been telephoned by Wonga to chase a default?
I am about to default (not lightly I might add, I have tried to keep up with the debt for months) on a loan and am happy to phone them but am petrified that they will phone my at work.

thanks

  • I've no direct experience of Wonga, but in general a creditor may ring you at work if the creditor thinks that may shame you into paying.

Wonga are unethical moneylenders, not psychics, so they have to get your number first.

You may read stuff about harassment, but bear in mind the legal definition includes the phrase 'a course of conduct'.

It is reasonable for a creditor to ring a non-payer several times to ask for their money, but there is a line they shouldn't cross.

So it's worth keeping a log of any calls as they are made, in case you need to prove that 'course of conduct' in the future.
