    Went shopping in Toxteth once when DS was a uni - the trolleys had 8 foot metal posts welded to the sides so that you couldn't take them out of the shop.
    If you wanted a 4 pack of beer you had to go to a 'bank type counter' put your money on the tray and then they passed the beer back through!
