Poundland is not against colleagues wearing a poppy; however, colleagues are not allowed to wear one on the shop-floor simply as it does not abide by the uniform rules.
Bloody ridiculous!

You have to wonder what the upper-management of Poundland feels such a ban on wearing poppies will achieve?

The staff at my local Poundland seem to have more metal pierced through their faces than the scrapyard around the corner, yet the management are more worried about poppies breaking their uniform regulations.

If you don't want to observe the 2 min silence, you know where to go - Poundland.

Oddly enough peircings and visible tatoos are against the uniform rules according to the Poundland staff handbook. And last year we held a two minute silence on the Sunday before Nov 11th and on the day itself (which seemed a bit excessive) so this ban on poppies seems really weird. I have suggested that next years nominated charity should be The Royal British Legion.

Do you work in Poundland? If you do, have you been told about the ban? Some people on the facebook page were querying it because it was a strange thing to just announce, and it was quite late at night to be posting such a status.

Dont see any harm wearing them or something like pink emblem for cancer. What harm does it do for a few weeks of the year? I for one will show my gratitude to our brave men/women both past and present who sacrifice their lives so we can enjoy freedoms that some countries still dont enjoy today

I accept some may not agree with wearing one for whatever reason but those that feel they should then why not

Also make the filth that stole this to pay from their crimes

Have they no shame? Thieves take bronze statue of WWII soldier from garrison town's war memorial

I do work at Poundland and heard of the ban via a collegue who had seen the declaration posted as their Facebook status. The cmpany have deleted all the comments posted to their wall on the matter (leaving the comments on the actual status) and posted ANOTHER status apologising for any offence caused and saying they will issue another statement in due course. It has been triggered by a colleague in a Northern Ireland store being sent home because she refused to remover her poppy.

Poundland obviously believe their uniform code is more important than their employees desire to show respect to the fallen.
Funny really as Poundland always seem to have scruffier staff than most other shops.
Still never mind I always noticed what a cultured bunch their customers in the main seem to be, no doubt being served by someone wearing a poppy would put them off their tat collecting foray.

funny how they are more than happy to let their staff wear santa hats and Christmas earrings at Christmas time......could that be because they actually sell them in the store and can make money from that.

There's no money to be made by poppies.

The run up to Armistice Day wouldn't be the same without the annual "company bans poppies and then backs down after a slating by the media" saga.
