  • Can't you move some of the assets into an ISA, or no room?

Hi Ed - I wish it were that simple.

No room I'm afraid, but it has more to do with total income.

When we have a dividend from work, depending on how much it is, we have to pay tax on some of it.

I have never had to do this because my basic salary is lower than everyone elses' (not moaning - just a fact!) - however, with the overall earning thresholds for 40% tax decreasing and the news that you now have to add the tax credit the company gives you to the figure (even though its not real money), it means that I may just tip over the top for 2013-14 tax year.

Most of my savings are in an isa, so no worries there - the rest doesn't add up to much due to low interest rates.

At least I won't have to worry about it straight away and I have time to research, calculate and get set up if needed.

  • Film was good last night but I think DH was a bit bored - but he is a love for coming with me though.

Charity wages - done last night before going out and dropped off this morning.

Directors Report - planned in for tomorrow night when DH goes out (been so busy at work I haven't wanted to do stuff at lunchtime)

Nothing really on the MSE front. Roughly £5 spent in Herr A (stuff needed for sandwiches). May check the freezers tomorrow before doing the directors report, then can get the cook books out afterwards as a reward. I reckon the DR will only take about an hour to do.

Tonight's dinner is Steak with Garlic Mushrooms and Spicy Roast Potatoes and a HM sauce of some description.

Happy Hump Day everyone - January seems to be going quick and slow at the same time!

  • Happy Friday Everyone!

After defrosting myself :rotfl: the freezer inventory has enlightened me and I don't think I am going to have to buy any meat for for Feb!:j May have to buy a bit of fish for balance - but this won't be expensive.

Found some chicken and braising steak at the bottom of the freezer that I had totally forgotten about.

Haven't done the mealplan yet, but I think I'm going to be well in my £150 budget.

DH put another couple of 50ps in the Penguin Pot last night and I have saved my £ coins for my January installment of Mr T savings stamps. - Its all about small things this week.

Fish Pie for tea tonight and we are going to eat at the table - forsake the TV and chat and play a game or two.

Hope everyone has a great weekend - mine is going to consist of popping up the allotment for an hour (if its dry); see Mum and Brother; a bit of charity work and then catch up with friends as well as chores etc...

Happy weekend MCI, tasty sounding tea.

I am relaxing after a tasty pearl barley risotto and a few slices of a very fancy Hotel Chocolat chocolate 'bouche' (aka log) that Mrs E got me for Christmas. A blend of coffee and chocolate, bliss!
  • Hi Ed

Barley Risotto sounds lovely (not sure DH would eat that though!!). Chocolate is always a winner...

Added a spoonful of cumin and a pinch of chilli to the Squash Soup - it was lovely and I have 2 portions left for lunches next week.

  • Just finished my meal plan for February.

Will be incorporating (and adapting) delights from Nigella, Jamie and Ainsley - quick and tasty is the name of the game.

Smileys not working so, little yellow man jumping up and down for the meal plan being complete (my first complete monthly meal plan in 12 months!)

Off down MILs now for a tasty Sunday Dinner...
