I'm surprised at the above because I changed to Firefox a while ago, as I find it so user friendly. It doesn't often crash for me, but I couldn't tell you what I am doing or not doing.

The main reasons I find Firefox so good are these:
    • You can press F11 and get full screen, which you don't seem to be able to do with the new microsoft edge
    • you can do long press on the 'back' arrow (top-left) and get a drop-down menu of the last dozen or so pages - great for navigating back to the home page on MSE for instance

    would've . . . could've . . . should've . . .

Pressing Shift, the Windows key and Enter in Edge will take it full screen.

You can achieve the Firefox effect in Edge by right-clicking on the back button.

I don't suffer any lack of responsiveness from either (under W10). Firefox has suffered from bloat, as so many programmes do, but the fact that you can't make either Chrome or Firefox run properly suggests something else is wrong. Do any browsers work properly for you?

You could try SeaMonkey - built on the same engine as Firefox but takes a more traditional approach re interface and features.

    Supprisingly[/FONT] Edge is slightly better.

What else could be wrong then?

Invariably, when FF has problems, it's with an add-on or a plug in.
Personally, I haven't had any problems with FF in a long time.
OP, see if the problem persists in 'Safe mode' or just disable all your add-ons and reintroduce them one at a time until you replicate the problem.
On your last point, I don't believe that there is a better program. However, that is just a personal opinion.

Recently finding Firefox to be my weakpoint.

Having a FF window open with a flash based game, probably pretty memory hungry. Leave that running and then had a pile of of other FF windows open and then launch Youtube in FF. I find that the youtube video starts to flash. Reload the youtube page and it stops flashing but sometimes it restarts the video and not resume.

Thingiverse also kills firefox. On my old system it would kill it very quickly. Now i can get 20 or so pages through the site then firefox starts to hang.

I switched to Ublock a while back. Much better.

Not the PCs fault this time, Win 10, R1700, 16GB etc.
